Stanley Kubrick's dazzling, Academy Award winning achievement is a compelling drama of man vs. machine, a sunning meld of music and motion. Kubrick (who co-wrote the screenplay with Arthur C. Clarke) first visits our prehistoric ape-ancestry past, then leaps millennia (via one of the most mind blowing jump cuts ever) into colonised space, and ultimately whisks astronaut Bowman (Kier Dullea) into uncharted space, perhaps even immortality. "Open the pod doors, HAL." Let an awesome journey unlike any other begin.
Extras:
Commentary by Kier Dullea and Gary Lockwood. Channel Four Documentary 2001: The Making of a Myth. 4 Insightful Featurettes: Standing on the Shoulders of Kubrick: The legacy of 2001. Vission of a future passed: The Prophecy of 2001. 2001: A Space Odyssey- A look behind the future. What is out There? 2001: FX and Early Conceptual Artwork. Look: Stanley Kubrick! Audio-Only Bonus: 1966 Kubrick Interview Conducted by Jeremy Bernstein. Theatric Trailer.

Picture perfect
This always looked very good. But with this latest and best presentation of the movie it is even better again. It is actually said (not just by me) this is one of the best release of an older movie in the uhd format to date and I can guarantee that it lives up to that expectation. A true classic, very symbolic and in my opinion artistic Sci fi movie that certainly has been the inspiration to many later Sci to classics at least visually. Like alien, star wars and a long list of many others. This said it is still an entirely unique movie and special as it is certainly at least one of the earliest and best Sci fi movies today. It's truly many things, from a historical story of evolution of man to literally a visual opera. But not just that, audio and sound effects are as great as the visuals. One of the best movies ever made and also one of the most historical when it comes to cinema and Sci fi.
