"Who is Magneto?
Magneto is the mutant Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, possessing the ability to control and manipulate magnetic fields as well as any type of metal. Born into a Jewish family, he was persecuted and imprisoned in Auschwitz during World War II. Escaping in 1944, he started a new life in Russia under the name Magnus, married Magda, and became the father of a girl named Anya. After confronting a blackmailer, his house was set on fire, and he watched Anya die. It was then that he publicly used his powers for the first time, killing everyone present. He met Professor Charles Xavier, with whom he became friends, but their ideological differences eventually placed them on opposing sides. Magneto sees mutants as the next stage of evolution and, therefore, superior to humans. Acting as a terrorist in favour of mutants against humanity, he formed the Brotherhood of Mutants to implement mutant supremacy, making him the enemy of the X-Men, Xavier’s students who fight for peaceful coexistence between mutants and humans.
