If ever you've wanted to be a land owner, but not been too keen on the fact that it costs an arm and a leg, then this delightfully silly, yet nevertheless legitimate title deed is the answer. And of course it makes a great and original present. The title of Laird means land owner, it's a title that can be used by men or women.
This title document will certify that you (or the lucky recipient if you're feeling generous) will become a genuine land owner of a part of the Glencairn estate in the Scottish Highlands, i.e. a 'Laird of Glencairn'. You'll receive a registration code, which you register online or by post, and then an official title certificate and a 'Proof of Title' card. Once you've registered, you are welcome to visit the area where your land is located, where you can pace your boundaries (which admittedly won't take long as each plot of land only measures 1ft Square). You even have free access to the Laird's Retreat on the banks of Loch Riddon. The Retreat boasts excellent camping and free fishing rights (Lairds must bring their own equipment). It's a great bit of fun, you really will own a chunk of Scotland, and not only that, it's actually helping to preserve areas of land in the Scottish Highlands.
The area of Glencairn is near to the oldest Stone Age site in Britain - the Grey Cairns of Camster, as well as the Long Cairn of Camster which was used for many centuries as a burial chamber for the first Highland Clan Chiefs. Thankfully the likelihood of border disputes and clan wars is minimal, and there's nothing like the knowledge that you are a legitimate landowner (though you may feel moved to join the Countryside Alliance and wear tweed in the privacy of your own home).
- The opportunity to become a Laird of Glencairn in the Highlands of Scotland.
- Ownership of a square foot of land in Glencairn, in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
- A Map of Glencairn.
- A presentation certificate and pen.
- A registration code so you can officially register your be-titled status.
- Registration can be done online or by post.
- Post-registration you will receive a certificate of your official title and a 'Proof of Title' card.
- The 'Proof of Title' card allows access to the Laird's retreat on the banks of Loch Riddon in Argyll, offering excellent camping and fishing.
