Ever wondered what it's like to get behind the scenes at a zoo? Well now is your chance. You can become a big cat keeper for a day and work alongside the keepers at Dartmoor Zoo getting up close and hands on with the big cats and other carnivores.
What Happens On The Day?
Dartmoor Zoo has the widest variety of big cats in the south west of England.
This fantastic experience brings you as close as possible to some of Dartmoor Zoo’s most intimidating predators, giving you a unique insight into the lives of our keepers and the animals they care for.
Not for the faint hearted or lazy, this is a full on day and a true taste of what it's like to be a zoo keeper.
Your experience starts in the Jaguar Restaurant where you will enjoy complimentary refreshments before being met by one of our zoological park team. They will explain the exciting activities you will be undertaking during your day and give you health and safety information.
You will become a member of our zoological park team for the day. You will experience all aspects of animal care including cleaning, food preparation, feeding and working with the animals, helping out at daily events and more.
This is very much hands on and will give you an insight in to the amazing amount of work that goes on behind the scenes at one of the widest collections of big cats in the country.
You will also spend time with various other carnivores during your day as you discover the exciting but hard work our zookeeper staff undertake on a daily basis.
This is truly a fantastic job and our staff members are very enthusiastic and passionate about the animals in their care.
What You Need To Know?
"Minimum age: 18
Please allow 6 hours for the whole experience (the time spent participating is approximately 5 hours)
The experience is available seven days a week
The experience is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant, has a high blood pressure, or is of a nervous disposition
We recommend you book at least four to six weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available before the expiry date listed on the voucher
