Value For Money

The only thing stopping a 5 star review is the non-working keyboard. It means that there are a number of games which are difficult, if not impossible to play. But, that said, for the price you cannot fault what you can do with it. Updating the firmware (easy from the official site) lets you play many thousands of classic games. This is useful, as the 64 included are mostly just average with 4 -5 really great, well remembered ones. The joystick is fantastic, the "virtual keyboard" not too bad to use, and all of it feels like a faithful recreation of the C64 experience. Much better to plug this into your TV and enjoy the nostalgia rather than using any of the emulators available on a PC. It would make a perfect gift for anyone who grew up in the UK in the 80s.

Rolling back the years

Can't believe gaming from 38 years ago can still be this much fun! Great selection of retro games from an era that was all about the pixel. My kids have enjoyed a trip back in time to my youth during lockdown. Yes the keyboard doesn't function, but it's a good job with the size of the unit, you can always plug in an external keyboard if you need to :)

right in da feels :)

(The first review did not save, so heres a take2.). The first impression when you open the box, you`ll be warped instantly back 30-40 years back in time :) Gets ya right in the chest , in da feels :) The Mini is a great add-on for every collector, its boxed great, looks awesome or should i say the same but in mini form and comes with a Joystick, HDMI Cable (1.2m) , USB power supply cable (1.2) , Manual and not so big but OK list of 64 Pre-Installed titles. The Mini is made from a durable (quality) plastic, the color prints are sharp and detailed, almost the same goes for the joystick, it looks great ,but, feels the same as the original when you hold it (it could be good or bad for some folks) , if you ever owned a C=64 joysticks like this back in the day you`ll have a cautious approach out of fear no to break it, `cause (the old ones) if you were more aggressive (games like Decathlon and Super Test) they were prone to snapping (but i could be wrong.). There are couple of negative sides on this product, keyboard (even thou greatly detailed) the buttons are not real, its a C=64 plastic shell, also there's no adapter to plug it in, but if you own a (phone) adapter with USB you`ll be set, the most bummer part for me were the games, the game list is poor but thank goodness you can update the list with your childhood favorites manually . Also to add that the games load instantly not like a real C=64 where you had do wait 40 minutes ;) All in all i`m very satisfied with the Mini and if you ever owned a C=64 back in the day i highly recommend to get it, its a great addition ! Greetings from Republic of Macedonia ;).
