Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (Collector's Edition)

Zavvi had a great price for a great collector's edition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. The game itself is a good, fun, 10-or-so hours of Single Player content, and as many hours of multiplayer as you want. The extras are pretty nifty for 40k fans, especially the magnetic purity seal which I immediately put on my fridge door. The box itself is is a very big and bulky, and reminds me of the 40k tabletop rulebooks. The art book and information cards I pretty much skipped, as I was eager to get to the game, but the soundtrack is a really nice addition to the set. Overall, pretty good value for the money and the game is good fun (especially the jet pack sections).

Space Marine

Warhammer 40k Space Marine is a fun game. Lots of Xenos to kill with lots of weapons, for the Emperor's glory, and you can do that with your friends in multiplayer. The Collectors Edition is simply beautiful! There is not to much content, but the design makes you forget that.

Leaves much to be desired...

A long expected spin-off of the Dawn of War series unfortunately fails to meet the expectations. With a heavy name legacy in the name Warhammer 40K most of us expected an ,at least, robust FPS game honouring the THQ and Games Workshop tradition. That we got, alas, was a half-hearted attempt of a console port in a shiny package. The game runs in a "Gears of War" mode, minus the experience. The controls of the PC version require abilities similar to those of a lobster who plays the piano. The notoriously bad Game play is there to wreck the really beautiful Graphics and the cheeky Audio experience. The collectors Edition get the 3* for the extras, like the purity seal, pure awesomeness, but the game itself, leaves much to be desired. A good item for the fan, good to display, but not for play.
