Uncharted: Golden Abyss is the brilliantly produced spin off of the critically acclaimed Uncharted franchise, brought to you by Bend Studio. This game is a PS Vita exclusive, not to mention Nathan Drake's eagerly awaited Vita début, and contains a creative and original story sure to thrill all Uncharted fans across the globe.
Golden Abyss tasks you to investigate the mysterious massacre of a Spanish expedition that happened four hundred years ago, leading you on to the trail of an intriguing ancient Spanish sect shrouded in secrecy. With the help of your old friend Jason Dante and Marisa Chase, whose archaeologist grandfather one day mysteriously went missing, you set out to explore Central America on a quest for a legendary lost city. Be careful on your search though, as you may just find yourself on the brink of the Golden Abyss.
As is a recurring theme within the Uncharted legacy, this game contains a rich and textured storyline, complete with exceedingly thorough character development. This is combined with the visually breathtaking special effects and graphics, lending a hand in creating highly and exceptionally detailed environments and terrain that are a joy to explore. As is expected from this franchise, Golden Abyss is a game you can really sink your teeth into.
Gameplay has been completely diversified with the combination of both the classic dual analogue sticks, and the innovative front and rear touch panels and screens. Providing you with the interactive Vita features as well as the standard controls allows for an ultimately versatile gameplay experience when playing Golden Abyss. These Vita features allow more intuitive control of Drake, with touching and tilting the handheld commanding the protagonist to perform an action such as jumping or swinging, depending on the occasion. The motion sensor also comes in to play when influencing Drake's balance and movement on slides or ropes, allowing more fluid control of the character.
An interesting and brand spanking new feature in gameplay is Drake's scrapbook, which you have to assemble as you progress throughout the game. This scrapbook requires photographs, various bounties, the game's signature turquoise glyphs, and so much more. Alongside this, Drake will also be able to make charcoal rubbings of interesting symbols or emblems that he finds throughout the game that may be clues. These aspects add more depth to discovering the side of Drake that is an explorer, not just a treasure hunter. This new pace of game is a very refreshing experience, and definitely makes Golden Abyss a worthy addition to the legacy that is the Uncharted series. (Cat Emerson)

Big console quality
I'm a new Vita user - maybe that's why I'm so happy about this game. Have been Xbox 360 user for many years, but not much time on my hands made me buy a portable console. Also bought Uncharted and my God it's great. First of all - it doesn't feel like a compromise. Looks and plays like a "big" game. Don't know how, but the developers didn't forget about great animations even - not to mention story and level design. I'll be shocked to see better Vita games since this one is perfect already. A must for sure.

Review of Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Really great Drake adventure for the VIta. Feels just as big budget as the PS3 games.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is amazing. Easily the best game available on PS Vita. I haven't stopped playing it since I bought it. I really hope there's a sequel, or another Uncharted game - I'd definitely be buying that.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a great Vita game. It has excellent graphics that show off the power of the PS Vita. When I showed it to my friends, they all said that it's like having a PS3 in your hands. The game play is also good, but while the cover system and shooting mechanics remain the same as in the console version, the game uses a lot the touch screen, and the back touch panel. In my opinion, it ruins the fluidity of the game and the touch controls are more or a gimmick than anything else. The soundtrack consists of some great orchestral music, from the main theme to the action sequences, the music is moving and adds a lot to the experience. The sound effects and speech lines are at a quality everyone came to expect from an Uncharted Game. While the campaign is decent in length, there's no multi-player mode as of now, which is a shame. This means that my only reason to play the game again, is so I can find every secret, earn every trophy and play it on a higher difficulty level. Overall, it's not a game worth specially buying a PS Vita for, but it's definitely a game that you wouldn't want to miss if you already own one. The classic controls work well whilst the new touch controls feel like a gimmick, but the presentation is as slick as ever and the game is a lot of fun to play. I recommend it.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss - Awesome Game!
Uncharted: Golden Abyss may not be as big as other console versions, but it is certainly one of the more impressive action games we've seen for a portable console. Except for the insistence on the use of some unnecessary gimmicks, this is a challenging adventure and the fun is accompanied by a fascinating story. You should buy it, it's definitely worth it. Without doubt, a must play for the Playstation Vita.

Great Game with some unnecessary gimmicks
Uncharted Golden Abyss delivers a great story with dynamic relationships between characters. However, the experience is tainted by gimmicks like balancing with the vita, taking photographs in the game and charcoal scrubbings using the touchscreen. These elements are just disturbing and very boring, mini child games! The only cool new ability with the VITA is the aiming using the gyroscope, with works surprisingly well. The lack of multiplayer in this title is also something that I should mention. It feels a bit like this title was rushed and the multiplayer has been left for a sequel. The graphics are of course brilliant, but do not reach ps3 quality. So expect a nice uncharted adventure, but prepare also for some quite disturbing side quests.
