South Park: The Game is the newly developed role playing game from the hilarious and parody-based television show South Park, both written and created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. This latest video game installment of the franchise is brought to you by Obsidian, renowned as being creators of such brilliant games as Fallout: New Vegas, amongst others. The game has been developed through access to the entire back catalogue and assets of the long running television show, making sure the game is as close to the series as possible.
The storyline sets you as the new kid in town, determined to make friends with the local kids; main characters Cartman, Kyle, and Kenny, amongst others. Your mobile phone provides the in-game menu, and a social networking site similar to facebook provides a record of all the friends you make.
The game is styled as a parody RPG, with character customisation classes covering Fighter, Mage, Thief, Cleric, and Jew (Paladin/Monk), displaying the same humour and long-running jokes from the program in the game itself. There are also factions included in this production, such as Hippies, Goths, Crab People, Gingers, and more. Each of these offers you the chance to either perform quests for them to increase your reputation, or battle with them and make yourself some brand new enemies.
Combat is you being part of a small party, with each member taking it in turn to make a move or attack. Your weaponry and armour are, quite possibly, the worst you could ever have in a game; but that's the fun. Weapons are specially designed to reflect what a regular kid could find or make with a dash of imagination. Think wooden swords, suction cup arrows, and others along those lines. Armour ranges from towel capes to oven mitt gloves, with everything inbetween. There are also regular items such as soda pop being used as magic potions, and coffee which when drank increases your speed in battle. Chinpokomon, the show's parody of Pokémon, make an appearance as collectibles, and there is also plenty of loot to be found and scavenged throughout the game.
Probably the most hilarious game ever to be produced by Obsidian, South Park: The Game offers enough gaming aspects and such close similarity to the television show itself, that it'll be hard for even the most die hard fans to find flaw in it. Defend your new town, home, and friends from an onslaught of various enemies and attacks, with a hefty dose of humour and fun. (Cat Emerson)

The Best Licensed Game Ever?
This is definitely the best Licensed game I've ever played. Its very obvious right from the off that a lot of love and care has gone into the making of this game. Its not just a cash cow. It plays like a feature length episode of the popular show. The gags are offensive and hilarious as you would expect from South Park and the mechanics of the game are excellent. The customisation options are a nice added touch and I love the collectables. Decent playtime and three difficulty levels. An all round excellent RPG. The only thing that I didn't like was the censoring of certain sections in the game for Europeans. This is slightly redeemed by the graphic descriptions of what would have happened in these moments which are hilarious, but it is such a solid game that it still gets a 5* from me anyway. Great service from Zavvi as usual too :) thanks

Really good game. Even if you're not a fan of South Park it's worth it for the rpg gameplay, but if you are it's even better. Cheap too

It took a long time coming, but its finally here! South Park: The Stick of Truth has finally landed and it was well sorth the wait. The best way i can sum up this game, is that you'll feel like you're playing an episdoe of the show - its that good!!! Slick presentation, brilliant sense of humour and a spot-on voice cast makes this game a MUST for any South Park fan!! You'll be laughing until your sides spilt :o) I can't recommend it enough!

Stuff of Legend
First off, this game is very adult despite the cartoon appeal. So if you're unfamiliar with South Park you're in for quite the treat! Probably one of the funniest games I've ever played, and is backed up with some pretty solid game mechanics. Thoroughly enjoyable, especially if you understand all the references to the entire backlog of South Park characters and stories etc. The laughs keep rolling and the rpg elements keep you involved in the actual exploration of the game also. Just amazing overall, and should be considered by anybody who doesn't completely hate the show

Good game
I bought this game for my brother's birthday and he seems to really be enjoying it so far. I was expecting the game to be more like a South Park style GTA or a button-bashing fighting game and not the turn-based, Final Fantasy style RPG that it is, but with that being said, it really does work! You start out by making your own character, a new kid in South Park. Once you leave your house you're immediately thrown into a world of Game of Thrones/Lord of the Rings roleplay in which some of kids are dressed as knights or wizards and the opposing kids are dressed as elves whom you have to battle. From there you meet Cartman who explains to you that the Stick of Truth is the most sought-after relic in the world and gives ultimate power to whoever holds it. Of course, it's not long before it gets stolen and you're tasked with finding it and bringing it back. Don't worry, I won't reveal any more of the story to you for risk of spoiling it! A lot of characters that you'd forgotten about make a welcome appearance (Underpants Gnomes, Aliens) and Cartman is just as funny as ever. I'd say it's definitely one for the guys as I'm not sure I know any girls who would like this game. That being said, if you're a fan of the show then I'm sure you'll love it.

Great Game
Great game, but a longer story would of been great, fingers crossed more DLC will become available and I can carry on playing. Also some online multiplayer wouldn't of gone amiss as the character creation is excellent, great to see other people's creations! Oh well. Excellent first attempt by Matt and Trey! Keep them coming, the crazier and outlandish the better.. Oh and ps some parts of the game are censored due to being in the UK/Europe, just a word of warning as I wish I knew :(
