Need For Speed: Shift is an all-new simulation racing game that combines the true driver's experience with real-world physics, pixel-perfect car models, and a wide range of authentic race tracks. Need For Speed: Shift takes players in a different direction to create a simulation experience that replicates the true feeling of driving high-end performance cars. Players are thrust into the loud, visceral, intense, athletic experience of racing a car on the edge of control from the driver's perspective through the combination of perception based G-forces, the hyper reality of the cockpit view, and the brutal experience of a first person crash dynamic. Need For Speed: Shift features an accurate, accessible physics-based driving model that allows you to feel every impact, every change of track surface and every last bit of grip as you push yourself to the edge.
Features:
- True Driver's Experience: A variety of visual cues delivers the true driver's experience including a three-dimensional HUD that mimics driver head movement, inertia and G-forces. The depth of field also adjusts based on the speed of the car - so when the car is travelling at high speeds the perspective will shift to the distance putting the car/cockpit out of focus.
- Enhanced AI: A sophisticated AI system will mean that your races are more exciting than ever before. AI opponents will react and perform based on the player's aggression and overall driving skill thus creating race experiences for all skill sets.
- Dynamic Crash Effect: When the player hits a static object or opponent car, the player will feel like they are 'taking damage'. A combination of visual and audio effects will leave the player disorientated and briefly disrupt the race.
- Total Customisation: Need For Speed: Shift features a comprehensive customisation option that lets the player tailor every aspect of the cars performance and styling. Go under the hood to upgrade and tune your vehicle to increase its performance. The visual customisation system allows players to personalise both the exterior and trick out the interior to reflect their individual style and preferences.
- Photo-Real Cars and Tracks: Nearly 70 licensed cars are available including the Pagani Zonda F, Audi RS4, and Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. There is also over 15 real-world locations like Willow Springs and Laguna Seca as well as fictional circuits like downtown London and Tokyo.
- Additional gameplay features including career mode.

Need For Speed Shift Review
This is not your typical Need For Speed title, if you are looking for a Hot Pursuit or Most Wanted experience this is not it but regardless this is a very good title in its own right, but is much more difficult to master than your typical racer. If you are a casual racer you may give up with this title quickly, however if you are a hardcore racing fan and like a challenge this is a good choice. Graphics are very good and there are more views for driving than your standard racer, in-car being the best for realism. There are a lot of cars, which can be customised considerably as you unlock cash during your racing efforts. There is a good variety of tracks as well, this title will keep you busy for some time. The online mode is competent in translating the same experience from single player to multiplayer where you get rewarded for passive or aggressive driving styles. This is an absolute bargain and a must for petrol heads.

Need for Speed: Shift (Classics)
Need for Speed: Shift is a good game. I liked it on PC as well, but I miss the replays of races.

Fast, furious fun
im a fan of the need for speed series, the games are always really easy to get to grips with initially, and yet are difficult to master the harder areas of the games. and need for speed shift is no different. its a great game and the online is really fun. its a great classic that deserves being played.

Need for Speed: Shift (Classics)
Great driving game, with nice intuitive controls, which I found fairly easy to pick up, without making the game too easy. (The controls are easy to get the hang of, but perfecting them will take practice). A classic driving game, gets everything you could ask for right.

Need for Speed: Shift (Classics)
Need for speed tends deliver, but this one is definitely the best yet. As it says, shift is definitely a classic, I can't imagine it being surpassed any time soon. One of the most enjoyable racing games out there, graphics keep you engaged, driving is challenging without being frustrating, making much more enjoyable than say Gran Turismo, which for people unused to driving games is basically just unplayable. They've focussed on the actual driving experience and cut the dodgy storyline bits in earlier versions of the game, which actually makes the thing way more fun and gives it a way longer life span as well.

Need for Speed: Shift (Classics)
Having bought and enjoyed Shift 2, it was difficult to resist getting the first Need For Speed: Shift. Overall I am pleasantly surprised. Many reviews for Shift 2 mentioned how much it improves on Shift, but in truth there's not a lot wrong with the original game. Sure the handling is a little bit of a shock at first, but once you get used to it there's no looking back. Graphics are not up to class-leading Forza 4 standard, but are perfectly fine. There is a good choice of cars and tracks, and plenty of objectives and challenges in career mode to keep you coming back for more. In fact I think the career is far more varied and interesting than the very dull career mode on Forza 4. Overall, a great purchase.

Need for Speed: Shift (Classics)
Need for Speed has finally taken a turn towards real racing, and it's nice to see that. It's still decent fun as well, but it's certainly got nothing on Forza.
