Dead Space 3

Also an awesome episode of the horror series. And the coop gives also an extra unexpected experience.

a decent sequel in a great series

DS3 doesn't quite reach the heights of its excellent predecessors, losing some of the horror gameplay in favour of a bit of half-baked action set-pieces, but overall its still a good game with solid and fun gunfights and dismembering action. The new weapon crafting system is terrific, and the (completely optional) co-op is a nice addition, and far better executed than the co-op in Resident Evil 5.

Dead Space 3 is not good as part 1 or 2 but it is still fun if you like to play multiplayer.

Dead Space 3

If you are new to the franchise, you should really start with Dead Space 2, that is really the defining game of the series - pretty much a masterpiece in survival horror. This sequel is good, it ups a few things in terms of difficulty and has some effective changes to the in-game system but not all changes are welcome. The Hollywood style music really widens this game's target market which doesn't really do it many favours. The essentials are still there and it has co-op so all-in-all this is still a great game.

Too Much Awesome!

If you've never played Dead Space before then the first thing you need to know is that there is a super immersive story in the game, I'd recommend playing the first two before playing this one so you fully understand the characters. EA have done a great job on this game, as the series goes on you feel more and more for Isaac and this game was the cherry on the cake. The man has been through several hells and back and this game adds a few more for him to work his way through. Although not as scary as the other games on the story line, it more than makes up for it with the side missions and DLC. The new weapons system is great giving you a near limitless possibility for customising your two guns and even creating whole new ones (and the addition of the Scavenger-bots to help with the crafting side is a nice touch). All-in-all, one of the best games I've played on the 360.

Step backward, but still quite good

So, Dead Space 3 has always been one of my favourites. I can't say both previous games were scary - it's incredibly hard to scare me unless it's a bill for electricity or heating in mid Winter. But Dead Space always had its great and intense atmosphere. For some reason - it's lost in the 3rd game a bit. Not that it's lost completely - but the game is not what I'm used to now. It actually gets better while you play, but how the game started made me think about leaving it unfinished. But try to be patient enough and go through the section with humans only involved. I'm also not that fond of the new weapon customization system - I got bored after making a few weapons from different parts. Every Dead Space fan knows that there have always been 2-3 good weapons in the game - everything else was a bit useless. It's pretty-much the same story here with way more weapons to build. But there are good sides too. The graphics are fine (and it has always been), the gameplay is fine (not fond of those intense fights though - both previous games were less action oriented), the story is OK etc. All-in-all it's a nice game. I still haven't checked the co-op - maybe it's where this game really shines...

Nice one Visceral games

5

Visceral did it again - Issac Clarke is again back in the suit, lost in space and surrounded by fast, strong, scary necromorphs! I loved the first 2 instalments in this series and the 3rd doesn't disappoint I am about 3/4 through this game now, and I'm loving every tense minute of it. The combat, of which there is a lot of, is now more challenging as Issac can only carry 2 weapons at at time. This means the player needs to match the held weapon with the types of necros in the area. It is now also possible to craft your own weapons, which adds very nicely to the mix. There is a lot of gameplay here. I'm 13 hours in and still going strong. There is also a co-op mode, which I am itching to try after playing through the solo campaign. All-in-all, a great addition to the series. Visceral seem to be moving the series slowly away from the survival horror genre and with this game I think they have got the mix just right. I can't wait for episode 4.

Don't rate until you played a whole game

Before purchasing Dead Space 3 I read various reviews on many gaming sites about it. Many of those criticised the game as having too much action, lacking horror atmosphere and being the weakest of the trilogy. After finishing the game, I asked myself whether authors of these reviews played the game until the end. Because this game is definitely not weak and still is a horror. Another weak point of the game mentioned in reviews is a lack of variety of enemy creatures waiting to kill you. I also can't agree with that. There are many Necromorphs around. Some of them you met in previous instalments of game, some of them are completely new. There are a variety of guns to choose from but I preferred to stick with good old Plasma Cutter. If you want to experiment, you will certainly have many chances for that. In Dead Space 3 there has been introduced a new system of crafting weapons and accessories. You still do it through the Bench but you have an endless amount of combinations. Another innovation in the game which has been criticised as well as praised is presence of second character, sergeant John Carver. If you play single player campaign he pops up from time to time to help you with something, but it feels rather artificial because he appears from nowhere in cut scenes. However, his presence in co-op campaign has been praised very much. If you are fan of the first two games don't be afraid and don't trust all negative reviews which have been written. Sure, Dead Space 3 brings ideas and atmosphere which we have experienced in the first two parts, but it does it on the same level. Try it - you will not be disappointed.

Dead Space 3

Dead Space 3 is less scary but just as intense as DS2. They have packed this game with more epic moment that the first two iterations had as well. The availability of microtransactions is a little bit of a let down. But you do not have to purchase them. They are optional and can be earned through natural progression. IMHO, this is not the best Dead Space game, but it stands proud as a worthy entry into the Dead Space universe.
