A Gem
5I admit I forgot that this game came out so long ago, obscured by the massive attention given to other games at the time. Borderlands is a classic that you will not want to miss and this BARGAIN price for the game and its 4 expansions is fantastic. Initially, the game feels like a bit of a grind as you will need to level up because the difficulty curve of the enemies is slightly uneven at times. Also, it game feels a bit lonely as there is very little contact with other characters to begin with. Weapons, particularly sniper rifles, are awful to begin with so don't feel too bad if you are not scoring critical hits very frequently against human enemies. Despite this, the large amount of dark humor in the game carries you through these initial problems and Borderlands takes off. There are lots of weapons and I mean LOTS. Some are just plain guns, others have special traits based on causing elemental damage which adds another dimension to the game. Overall, Borderlands is fun and down right exciting. Some fights will have you really on the edge as the face of the fights is really quick and the game likes to throw curve balls at you here and there. Now is a great time to try this game as at this price, Borderlands is amazing value and the sequel is coming out soon. Definitely worth a look!

Great Value
4This Game of the Year edition is really a great bang for your buck...The main game is witty and a lot of fun to play and having the whole DLC on board makes it a must buy, especially at such a great price. Fun gameplay (with RPG leveling up as a nice mix to the FPS style), with really good co-op mechanics (especially the ability to drop in and out whenever) and some memorable lines from some of the NPCs. The DLCs are mostly good additions (The Zombie Island is the most funny, The Armory adds a huuuuuuge amount of guns) and will prolong the games value for quite a bit. The only real nag I have with this game is it's abuse of fetch quests that can become boring and a couple of achievements based on finding some items that are a bit too rare for my liking. Other than that, it is really a must buy.

Borderlands Game Of The Year
5Original Borderlands was one of the greatest surprise I ever bought. It was signed like a action rpg and becaus I like this style I bought the game. Right now you have a chance to buy Game of the years edition which adds all four dlc pack which consist of zombies, tournament arenas, armory and fights with claptraps. So it is another good reason, why you may buy this game. As in another action rpg you can choose from different characters and everyone of them has their own skilll tree, which helps in a marvelous fights on planet Pandora. Everybody who likes rpg or/and shooters must have this title because is needed in every real collection of hardcore gamers. Additionally this game has many quests, thousands of weapons and hordes of enemies. If you want to survive...go on and fights with other players in great co-op game. So last thing I want to say...buys this game and go deep into amazing world on Pandora.

Great game
5GOTY edition is simply great value - you get 4 DLCs along with the original game. The game is really good - especially when playing in co-op with your friend. The style is pretty cool as well - looks more like comics. The only drawback for me is that all the enemies respawn every time you get back to different areas where you've been before. Not the brightest idea considering that you spend your money on upgrades and bullets, so killing them again and again is not only repetitive but is "expensive". This is only actual when playing alone - co-op is flawless even with this repetition.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition
5This game is full of adventure and exciting action. If you want a game where you can go around destroying everybody with a range of guns from machine guns to pistols that fire rockets this is the game for you! I bought this game in 2008 and still play it because of the increasingly harder campaign, the way the game changes is amazing.

Borderlands: Game of The Year
5Despite assurances that "this game was sent out to die" by a certain financial games analyst, Borderlands went on to sell big numbers and became an instant cult classic among gamers who fell in love with the beautifully realised open world, great cast of characters and a huge amount of play time between the five character styles. Those of you who feel you've had your fill of post-apocalyptic wastelands after Fallout 3 really should give this game a chance. It's art and visuals really are beautiful to get lost in and the polar opposite of Bethesdas classic. Controls are tight and responsive, but those of you hated the Warthog in HALO won't find much to love about the vehicles in Borderlands. The upgrades for weapons are drip fed brilliantly and genuinely make for a more powerful experience when taking out enemies that previously posed a challenge. Upgrade one or two levels and you'll be headshotting Badass Brutes in no time. The weapons dropped and discovered number in their thousands, but it's up to you to experiment or stick with ones you love. It's all about weighing the pros and cons and deciding what to sell and what might become useful for the next undiscovered enemy. The DLC is, on the whole, worth getting, (but don't be fooled into thinking that all the extra content is on a disc. The GOTY provides you with codes to download, so anyone without an internet connection for their Xbox 360 or PS3 will still miss out on all the extra gaming goodness). The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned is great fun and Claptrap's Robot Revolution adds a much harder challenge to proceedings. At the price on this site (at the time of writing) you'd be a fool of apocalyptic proportions to keep ignoring this game. A classic that will be talked about for years to come and offers more playtime than anyone really deserves.

Fantastic!
5Some of the most fun you can have together with your friends, Borderlands is a fantastic game if you play it in co-op, where you and your friends will be running around Pandora trying to solve its mysteries and gather as much treasures as you can. The story is good and very funny at times,. The downloadable contets for the game is all top notch and delivers more of the great gameplay and the great humour.

Simply Brilliant
5when i first started playing borderlands it was an extremely interesting story line packed with amazing side quests that will not leave you under leveled or bored once completing the game, one of my favorites in this game was the freedom you have with exploring the areas which you are in and that you can chose what you want to improve on your character. If you want to make your bullets able to stun people or if you just want those extra seconds of phase walk it is your choice. If i think about it there are no real faults in this game which i have come across, some parts may leave you stuck and frustrated but it is nothing you can fix without a little 'what happens if i do this instead' you may find yourself beating some of the hardest bosses in the game with a different battle strategy. All of the add ons that come with the GOTY edition are extremely well plotted and they have made a lot more playing time for you to consume and make your character an adept boss destroying machine, one of the bad points are that if you are only looking to play for a half hour you start to see the hours go by with how addictive this game is. overall this game is a 'MUST BUY' for all of those RPG and FPS lovers out there, you wont regret your buy especially at such a low price. Amazing game.

Not one of those common shooters....
4Borderlands is a first-person shooter with a full 4 players online support. When you start the game, you can choose one of four different characters that all feature unique abilities, e.g. Sirene can go stealth for a little while a assassinate the enemies. You will have to do missions and gain experience points to learn new abilities and strengthen your character in general. The missions vary, but your main objectives are mostly to kill a special amount of enemies or collect specific stuff from an enemie's base. While doing so you can get new weapons and equipment to pimp your character. When the mission seems to be to difficult, just let a friend or a random player join your game and support you - this is possible at any time. This aspect makes the game to a dynamic co-op experience. The graphics are presented in some kind of comic style. I like it very much and it doesn't look like all the ordinary shooter stuff. As there are all add-ons in this edition, you will have plenty of extra time playing through them and especially zombie island is very funny. The only reason why I don'T give the full 5 stars is that the game lacks a good tutorial. You are thrown straight into the missions and oyu actually don't know about building a character properly and the different meanings of the coulours the names of equipments are written in. All in all Borderlands is a very interesting shooter and you should definetly give it a try.

Top
5Borderland is one of the greatest FPS ever created. An incredible mix of First Person Shooter and Role Playing Game, with a very engaging post-apocalyptic world, a bestiary rich and varied, lots of missions of any kind, millions of different weapons randomly created and Much More! The graphics, soundtrack, longevity, everything is of the highest quality, with a very catchy multiplayer mode ! The GOTY version adds new enemies, new original lands, and hours of games and more in perspective... A must have !
