The Amazing Spider-Man is a great game for my kid. He loves it. When my boy is happy, I'm happy! And it was not expensive. Thanks Zavvi.

The Amazing Spiderman

I'm extremely happy with my purchase of The Amazing Spider-Man. I couldn't believe how cheap the game was since I've seen it on other sites for much more. I'm really happy I chose to shop here. I'd highly recommend this great game and it deserves 5 stars.

the unbiased AMAZING Spider-Man review

Like the title suggests, The Amazing Spiderman is truly amazing! One thing that all people who want to get this game should know is that this is by far the BEST Spiderman game. Beenox really nailed the web swinging mechanics. Most people would say spiderman 2 has better web slinging mechanics but I have this to say: Spiderman 2 HAD the best web swinging mechanics. The Amazing Spiderman's web slinging experience is much more cinematic and most importantly, is easy to get used to - not to mention it is a joy to watch Spidey swing through NYC performing insanely cool looking manoeuvres mid-air. Another thing is combat. As most people would point out, it shares many similarities with another game, namely Batman:Arkham City. But it is by no means a carbon copy. Spiderman in this game is MUCH, MUCH more agile compared to Batman and he fights with a more acrobatic, sort-of lucha-libre style, which I might add, is a blast to watch. Front flips and 360 twists in mid-combat, yes, it is THAT FUN! Another plus is how Spiderman can web enemies up and stick them to ceilings. Stealth take-downs if you may. Though the idea of webbing enemies to ceilings sounds repetitive, it is not. Coming from a guy who has finished the game, I can confidently say that you will be going back for more web-tastic floor-to-ceiling take-downs. Trust me when I say this, the stealth take-downs in this game are going to take a long time to become stale. Visuals in the game are probably not the best, but that's not to say it's bad either. It's just not as detailed or lively as one would expect from a current-gen game. It won't distract you from the game though, because web swinging though NYC is just WAY TOO MUCH FUN! Before I stop, let me say this: Spiderman fans out there should really get this game because it is, without any doubt, the best Spiderman game to date, EASILY beating the outdated and highly overrated Spiderman 2. And for those who are on the fence, you can either order this game now or watch a few game-play videos on Youtube first before making a decision, but my advice is just try it. You won't regret it. I'd give this game a 9.5/10 if I were an official reviewer.

The Amazing Spider-Man Review

Spider-Man has been a favourite of mine for years. The only difference between the red-and-blue-clad heroes is that Spider-Man has had more games over the years while the likes of Superman havent. Yet. The Amazing Spider-Man, the most recent Spidey game, sees the return of the much free-roam; and obviously ties-in with the recently released film of the same title. It is however set after the movie. At this time its hard to say if it bridges a gap between The Amazing Spider-Man the film and the next film release as there is meant to be 2 more on the way. But anyway, by being set after the film, we actually have a double-edged sword. The developers werent tied to just the movie plot line, but how much would they be allowed to reveal about the movie before it even hit theaters? The answer is a dauntingly massive SPOILER ALERT. Seriously, you will know a lot more about the movie after the first ten minutes of this game than you will after carefully examining each and every movie trailer. This is regrettably where the story is both fascinatingly imaginative and disappointingly bland. In order to keep things close to chest and in line with the movie, it plays out that Spidey must face down some of his weakest villains in comic history. (While many love the Scorpion and Rhino, how many of you can tell me who Vermin or Iguana are? Thats what I thought.) Nevertheless, they are able to tie all of the gene-splicing animal amalgamation of the film into the game without much effort. Hell, there is even Black Cat, who, as any fan knows, is more for the eye-candy than anything else. Therefore, aside from the spoilers, the storyline is somewhat drab. Mix this with the voice actors and you may find yourself caring about the story less and less, just wanting to get to the action. This is not to say the voice work is awful or anything; its just that none of the actors from the film reprise their roles. The combat plays heavily on the dreams of how Spider-Man fans have always wanted to control Spidey. The combat structure reminded me a lot of Arkham Asylum, The Amazing Spider-Man has an attack/reversal/take down system, and it makes so much sense here. After all, Spider-Man actually has the squiggly lines pop above his head to warn him about impending attacks, whereas Batmans warnings came from under his mask. Also like Batman, Spidey now can use stealth to take down the bad guys. Crawling in the shadows and taking enemies down while hidden is just as much fun with Spider-Man as it is with Batman, if not a little more so. Spidey has the option of auto retreat or web retreat, which basically lets you get back into hiding with the push of a button. Sure, it feels like cheating, but this doesnt stop it from being fun. I would even say that this has to be one of the games biggest treat: Its fun, plain and simple. However, I need to explain that a bit more. Yes, you will have stupid amounts of fun in this game if you are a fan of Spider-Man. Web-slinging through the city with some of the best looking fluid motion I have ever seen in a Spider-Man game, combating the random thug here and there with upgradable spider powers, and collecting the pure fan service littered throughout the cityall of these have one thing in common; they are at their best in the open world of the city. To go along with the idea of fun, The Amazing Spider-Man has a new feature, Web Rush. Instead of randomly throwing a line out and speeding along, Web Rush allows you to control where Spidey will go in that scenario. For example, swinging through the city, you enter into Web Rush mode and see different destinations such the side of a building, a flag pole, lamp post or just open air. In this slow-motion segment, you are able to choose where Spidey will go. Once you do this, you are treated to a little (albeit brief) cinematic of Spidey swinging to reach the chosen destination. After a series of games where the simplest of taskssitting against a flag pole like weve seen him do in so many iconic images throughout printed historywas unachievable, players are truly left with the feeling of I am Spider-Man! You will definitely be thankful of this when taking down some enemies. In short, The Amazing Spider-Man is actually quite amazing!
