I like this game. I don't think that the story mode is too short, I think you can spend lots of time having fun. I like the physics, the controls and the graphics!

Spec Ops - The Line is a great game. I recommend it because of it's fast-paced gameplay and weapon variety. It has a rather short single player story, but there is a multiplayer mode and a co-op story to back it up. All in all it is a good game.

I didn't know what to expect going into this game as I had seen mixed reviews on the internet ranging from 5/10 up to 8.5/10. So when I got down to playing it myself I was swept up within a couple of missions into the unusual setting for a war game (Dubai). The graphics and draw distances are amazing, sandstorms when they are appear look amazing (I found myself took aback by the sandstorms rather than shooting the enemies. The story itself is brilliantly told and you never really see what's coming until it's all explained in the final few scenes and on top of that there are 4 endings as well. I played this through the main three of the four difficulties (normal, suicide and FUBAR difficulty) The latter was a real challenge for me and I don't normally go for the hardest difficulties but on this game I did and I really enjoyed it. The mechanics of the cover and shooting are some of the best I have ever used and are right up the with the Mass Effect and Uncharted series. My only criticism of the game would be the enemies especially on the hardest difficulty tend to spam grenades a bit to often (I had around 10 thrown at me by one guard at one point) Also on the harder difficulties the AI of your team can go a miss as they will sometimes openly run out into the line of fire and in this game you have to go heal them yourselves and running out in the open on FUBAR difficulty is a silly idea. But the good and great points of the game far out weigh the bad points.

Whilst Spec Ops looks just like any other military shooter, inside it is a very different beast. Its story is, I thought, really good, and the comparisons to Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness are entirely valid. It's a really good narrative focusing on what war does to people, and the horrors of war - it's not 'Go 'Murica!' But, my frothing love for the narrative aside, the game's pretty good. Gameplay is solid, but not perfect. The controls take a little getting used to, but are perfectly playable. Weapons feel good, and responsive, and landing a headshot causes the game to slow down, highlighting your awesome skills. The AI, both your allies and the enemy, are okay. Enemies tend to stand still a bit, but often outflank you, and co-ordinate their attacks and you will die. You are able to give your allies basic commands (Kill my target, suppress the enemy), adding a slight tactical edge to the gameplay. Graphics are pretty good- the Unreal Engine doing what it always does. The highlight is the location and art style. Ruined Dubai is actually pretty beautiful and crazy, and the locations differ throughout the game. The soundwork on the game is just as good, with Nolan North (of half-tuck and stabby-assassin fame), giving a really good performance as a soldier struggling to deal with the situation. Its got some really good rock songs on too, which is cool. Basically, however average this all might sound, I loved the game. The story is something truly unique, especially amongst this genre, and I really hope you'll give this game a go.
