Great RPG for a Young Audience
4Ni No Kuni is an RPG (role playing game) developed by Level 5 with the backing of Studio Ghibli, the Japanese animation studio behind Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and many other animated films. The visual style and graphics of this game is the first thing that jumps out, as it showcases Ghibli's signature character and environment design. In addition cutscenes include 2D animated scenes in the tradition of Ghibli films which are wonderful to watch. The game itself is entertaining and boasts an easy gameplay (controls and in game menus are easy to pick up and comprehend.) An interesting part of Ni No Kuni is the blend of traditional RPGing (quests, character builds) with collecting or capturing familiars "in the wild", a popular concept seen in games like pokemon. Familiars, one of the pillars of the game are small monsters "born from the heart of people" who will fight on the player's behalf. Like characters, you will need to level them up, evolve them, and equip them with weapons, armors, and accessories. Ni No Kuni's story is fun, but definitely geared toward children, older gamers can still enjoy the game, but will most likely find it less engaging then the target audience. The game has the option to be played in it's original Japanese audio with subtitles! A fantastic feature if like me you love to play games or watch movies as they were intended to be heard, and cringe when you hear horrible voice overs. I did listen in briefly on the english dub, and it's not awful, in fact its probably one of the better english voice overs out there. I give this game 31/2 stars, I rounded up. I hope this review helps someone out there. Enjoy the game.

great visuals, slight gameplay problems
4Ni no kuni is really beautiful. At times it feels like watching a Ghibli animation. And it has a really cool world map. What I don't like is that some things that you have to do, repeatedly even, feel too guided. I'm into about 15 hours of playing now but sometimes it feels like I'm still in a tutorial. And the battle system lacks depth. It's still a fun game and I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Ghibli movies.

Ghibli spirit.
4This game is without a doubt a really big and fun adventure. I've been seeing a lot of Ghibli movies in my life, and when I play Ni no Kuni I can feel the Ghibli universe and his esence everywhere. The OST is fantastic, and the history endearing, the only point which I don't like is that the millions of battles during the game, but only a few are disposable. I really recommend this game.

A Testament to JRPGs' Staying Power
4There has been a glut in the release of JRPGS in recent times but make no mistake; Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch is all you need to convince yourself why JRPGs will always be around as they provide something that Western RPGs often lack: emotional investment, a simple yet satsifying combat system and good production values with cutscenes that seamlessly bridge the gameplay with its strong narrative without looking tacked on. Be prepared though for a long-term commitment as you will need to spend between 60-80 hours if you wish to truly enjoy every aspect of its narrative and mission structure.
