Have been waiting for Max Payne 3 for seven years now and it's been well worth the wait. Although its not the same without remedy it is still a great game.

Max Payne 3 is a fantastic game, with an excellent narrative, and poor Max it appears that we, the gamer, have given him an addiction to pills! Nice.

What can I say? The look of Max Payne 3 is amazing. I'm not usually a fan of games with video sequences between levels, but these are astounding. They link the levels perfectly, and avoid those dull loading moments. The early levels subtlety teach you the controls, and you are soon off shooting on your own. Need to stop typing this now to get back to playing!

I have been skeptical about Max Payne 3 since it was announced. I loved the old ones, especially the first one. And I was not ready to believe that the new Max would feel as good as the old one. Until I played the game. The Intro Scene (which is quite long) to the Menu and the story manages to make you think " Wow, this is Max Payne. He is still the cynical guy who lost all self respect and is still caught in his horrible past." So, the story manages to convince you that you still play Max Payne, but thats about it. The story is not new and feels a little shallow. But it still holds the game together. And the characters are believable, which is quite uncommon in such storys.. As for the gameplay it feels great, but old Max Payne players have to adjust to a few things. First the Cover-System. Today of course, every 3rd-Person-Shooter has to have a Cover-System. Here, I welcome it. It works naturally and helps, as the game is challenging even on Normal difficulty. Second, jumping through the air in Slow-Motion (Shootdodge as it is called now). In Max Payne 1 you would jump and slowly slide down any obstacle you hit in your path. Now you crash against it, Slow-Motion deactivates immediately and you fall to the ground vulnerable to enemy fire. So you have to be aware of your surroundings. Third, Max standing up from the ground. This is, well, stupid in my opinion. If Max is lying on the ground and you want to get up and immediately take cover, Max will stand up (which lasts a few seconds) be vulnerable to enemy fire and then you can give him the command to take cover. This happens even if you are already behind an object which you could use to take cover. It could have been better, but you get used to it. BUT, as stupid as I think it is, Max standing up is a sight to see. The animation is really good. He is lying on his pack still aiming with his gun and while getting up you can still aim and shoot. It is a little harder to aim, which is, in my opinion, quite realistic. But you might think that this is exactly how people would move if they would be in this situation. Otherwise if you are standing and Max stretches his arm to aim with his weapon and you try to move backwars it looks a little weird. But thats just a minor visual flaw. Something more maddening is the fact that Max always changes to a hand gun in the video sequences (Is that spelled correctly?). And of course after the scene you still have the hand gun equipped. So if you want to use the big gun in the next battle, you have to take cover and change weapons again. And that happens every time there is a scene. Another thing is the that sometimes the voices disappear in scenes. You only hear the background sounds. This should not happen in this day and age and I hope it can be fixed with a patch. All in all I liked it very much. I am glad to play an all-new-old Max Payne and hope his story continues in a fourth title. Max Payne 3 is a great game, with good graphics, excellent animations and some minor flaws.
