I thought that this was an excellently all-rounded title, ignore the reviews of IGN, GameSpot and the like - this was fabulous! Thrilling story that really does suck in the player at near enough 12 hours at a general level of play, graphics - well, it looked brilliant. The old 1940s/50s style is also relatively new as a setting an enjoyed the originality. 4 stars due to 'missing' content half-way through the game, however, if you buy the special edition it's sorted and all there. Great stuff 2K!

Outstanding cinematic action and great atmosphere inspired by the most famous gangster movies such as Goodfellas. A must have for every action game fan, with a really amazing plot that will keep you close to the screen holding your breath every other minute. Plus this version has all the DLC included.

This is a game where you want to walk instead of running, and that's saying a lot. In this beautifully detailed city, based on New York City - Empire Bay - you are Vito Scaletta, a war hero returned injured from WW2 and ready to give life a fresh new start. Your childhood buddy Joe won't let you follow a legitimate life, though. And so, the story progresses through various type of missions - from the usual shooting, car chases, fist fighting (very satisfying) to distributing packs of cigarettes, crush some cars or robb various stores, you can't have enough. Like I said before, the city is very detailed and sometimes you wonder around just to find out little crazy things like cool posters inside a bar, or a music you like in a jukebox, see how many drinks can you get until you see all blury... The interior environment is a joy to watch (sometimes it makes me lose a mission from staring all around me). Yes, it's that good! The story isn't related to the first game, although you can notice some connections here and there. The driving is very satisfying (with simulation mode on) and each car behaves diferently. There are lots to drive (and to steal), from two diferent times (late 40's and early 50's) and three radio stations with some great hits from that period (Andrew Sisters, Louis Prima, Buddy Holly and much more). The attention to detail goes on even to those three radios, where you can follow the news on the Second World War and hear about great new inventions like the voice recording machine and color tv. Outside the missions there is much to do, unlike a lot of reviews claim. You have stores to robb, in order to get you money to buy clothes or change car looks to escape the cops. Steal cars, tune them in a garage for more power, sell them or.. just crush them in a wreck yard. You have Wanted Posters to look throughout the city (159 of them) and an amazing collection of Playboy pictures of that time. With the main story completed, and since this is the "Director's Cut Edition", you have at your disposal all the extras and DLCs that came out since the release. They don't have elaborate cutscenes like the main game, still they are a lot of fun with a lot to do. With some technical bugs now and then, the game isn't perfect. But it comes very close. Trust me, you'll enjoy it a lot!

Very good story, just to short

Mafia 2 is a good game. Its does not live up to what Mafia 1 was. Instead of focusing on Free roaming Mafia 2 holds its fosus on a Great story. The Directors cut edition adds some very nice extras. 3 extras story lines which also has some arcade feelings 8 extras cars to get some good laughs at some of the 40s cars or see how fast your able to go after giving them some tune ups. Mafia 2 is overall good, its not great. but for the price I would say its a bargain, If you take a look at the PSN store all the extra packs are more expensive than the directors cut edition itself
