Hitman Trilogy
1As a PS3 veteran, I can honestly say that I have never played such utter garbage in my entire life. I managed to drag myself halfway through the Hitman: HD Trilogy and wished that I had sat and watched paint dry whilst eating glass, sat on a bed of nails, as I would have had more fun. The controls are a joke, the reaction of the character to said movement is abysmal at best and the sheer frustration in the actual game itself resulted in the disk being ejected and snapped in half.

Good but not excellent
4This Hitman: HD Trilogy is a bargain for 3 games but due to the age of the games, they're not as up to date as current gen games. I found Hitman 2 a pain to play as the AI was buggy and overall too slow a game for my liking. Hitman Contracts was much better and fixed the issues from Hitman 2. It was a joy to play and the same can be said for Hitman Blood Money. Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase and as mentioned earlier it's a complete bargain. Hitman fans it's a must buy.

Hitman: HD Trilogy
5I had been thinking of doing a little review of Hitman:Contracts (for the PC) for awhile now, and spm1138's comment in another thread provided me with the impetus I needed to actually do it. Graphics: Although this iteration of the Hitman universe it prettier than the last, it isn't so by much. By and large, Hitman 2 and Hitman:Contracts look strikingly (and disappointingly) similar. New in Hitman:Contracts is a post filter effect which generally makes things look blurry. Now, this an be a good thing, e.g. objects in the distance are blurred quite a bit, which I thought was quite nice looking. But the effect can also be a bad thing; I have read many complaints by people who think the filter just makes everything blurry and out of focus. I don't really see what these people are talking about, but since enough people are saying it, I'll go ahead and assume that I am an exception. And, before the first patch, setting this filter to high caused many a problem for me and I imagine most other Radeon owners. Sound: Nothing really to write home about. All the guards seem to speak the language corresponding to the location, which is a nice touch, but one I can't really verify as I only speak english and a wee bit of spanish. The sound is at least as good as the sound in Hitman 2. Gameplay: Like the graphics, nothing here has really changed. For me, this is okay, because I absolutely loved the gameplay of the first two games. Even at that though, I was hoping that maybe something would have changed, just to breathe some new life into this series. As it is, this game feels more like an expansion pack than a new game. But if you liked the first two games, this shouldn't be a problem for you. One thing that should be noted here is that a few of the levels in this game are rehashes of levels from the first game. You see, the plot of this game has you going through 47's memories as he drifts in and out of a state of delirium, so it makes some sense to have some levels from the first game in this game. And while it is a nice trip down memory lane to play these levels with the updated graphics engine (and otherwise changed up a bit), I can certainly understand that some poeple are going to be powerful pissed off by this development decision. Feel: For me, this was always the most important feature of the Hitman series. No other series of games has made me feel like such a badass just walking around any given level. One of the major contributors to this feeling was the games' AI; because each entity seemed to be separate, you can kill things in one room and characters in another room probably won't know a thing about it. Thus, wreaking havoc in one part of the level and then calmly walking to an exit really helps to make you feel like a badass. Thankfully, since H:C is so much like its predecessors, that feeling is still there. Save for few minor AI glitches every now and then (one time I triggered an event that killed a target while I was in a room all by myself, and for some reason that blew my cover. ), I still regularly feel like badass while playing this game. Also worth mentioning is the fact that this game is a lot darker than the first two. For instance, in one level you need to kill a guy that has been captured by some other bad guys. When you find this guy, he is strapped to a...thing... that can shock him, I guess as a method of torture. On the table next to him are a knife and a meat hook. So you have your choice of meathooking or knifing him to death, or turning on the shock thingy and walking out of the room (he'll die about 15 seconds later). Also, sometimes enemies fall to the ground merely wounded rather than dead, at which point you can let them writhe, or you can calmy cap them in the head and be on your way. All this combined with some nice cinema scenes between the levels made the game feel darker than usual to me. Overall: I really, really, really like the Hitman series, and so I really, really, really wanted to be able to give this game a 10/10. But since it has changed so little from the previous game and because of a few glitches, I really can't give it more than an 8.9/10.

Faithful HD Remake
4The Hitman games are unique in the way they should be approached. They are essentially third-person stealth games, but each level plays more like a puzzle than a normal action game. If you're familiar with the series, then this HD trilogy represents excellent value as each game has been faithfully remade with HD graphics. However, the learning curve can be steep and not everyone will enjoy the gameplay. If you like the idea of replaying a level to learn the behaviours of the characters, to stalk your target and wait patiently for the right moment to strike then there is a lot of fun to be had here!

4The Hitman: HD Trilogy is a nice flashback to the old school. It's well worth a purchase for a taste in proper gaming.
