One of the defining games of this generation
5Bioshock Infinite is the best game since, well, Bioshock. Don't let the fact that this is a first person shooter fool you. It is much, much more than a simple run-and-gun game. If you've played the original Bioshock, you know what I mean. But don't think this is like Bioshock 2 - more of the same. This game is very different than its predecessors, and yet the same in a very fundamental way. I will not go into a lengthy discussion about games as art, but let's just say I do believe it, and this game is a prime example. Infinite is described as a prequel, but it's not really that. It doesn't force feed you character origins how-this-eventually-became-that scenarios or constant nods to the original game. This is very much a game of its own. The developers themselves are hesitant to admit weather this even happens in the same universe as the original Bioshock. You will understand what they mean by this when you play the game. The story is absolutely fantastic, the game play is varied and enjoyable, the characters are amazing (even though you hardly ever see Comstock, the antagonist, his presence loom over you and the whole game world constantly). But the definite high-point of the game is its look. And I don't mean graphics from a technical standpoint. I mean the art design, or production design if you will. The sights in this game are breathtaking. It's almost poetic how this generation had an amazing Bioshock game at its beginning and a possibly even greater one at its end.

Excellent, of course
5Bioshock Infinite is one of those games that will keep you thinking long after you've finished it. The story starts simple enough, but not long after you'll start questioning what seemed simple, and by the end of the game you'd appreciate that subtleties that went into it. Gameplay- and graphic-wise, the game is not outstanding, there are other games which play and look better. It's the story that ties the whole package together and makes the whole package an excellent game, not by today's standards, but probably for years to come.

Where's Rapture?
5I enjoyed the first two BioShock games a lot. I knew Bioshock Infinite wasn't going to be much like those two. In fact, apart from the powers you have, nothing is the same. Even though the setting is quite nice and the floating city of Columbia is unique, I do miss Rapture. I miss being cornered by a Big Daddy and I also miss the gathering of Adam with a Little Sister to protect. The combat just isn't the same as it used to be, the way I liked it: the reason I fell in love with the BioShock franchise. Why change a winning concept? This is nice too, but this isn't BioShock anymore.

Bioshock
5Wow, I've never played the Bioshock games (well I have played demos) but I had to get Bioshock Infinite. The environment is amazingly beautiful, there is intense combat with powerfu vigors as they call them, they're like powers. Elizabeth is the main part of the game, she will aid you throughout the game and you will find out through the story who she is. If you like FPS games with a good story, then get this!

Early GOTY Contender
5Bioshock Infinite is an early contender for Game of the Year, it's as simple as that. After being delayed three times I was sceptical about Bioshock Infinite, but within an hour of playing it already cleared those fears. And it only got better from there. Whereas Bioshock 1 drifted off towards the end, Infinite delivers through the whole play through. The game has done such a fantastic job of creating a setting for the story, and the story is really what drives the game. There are really no other recent releases comparable story-wise to Infinite. Elizabeth brings the game to life, the developers have created a brilliant AI system for her. Although the game is really one long escort mission, it does not feel like one. Elizabeth can handle herself and stays out of the line of fire, even throwing ammo your way among other things. Game play wise, I have played better but there are no major problems there. Vigors (basically Bioshock 1's Plasmids) give you something extra in a fight, helping when ammo runs out but also helping clear crowds or stopping the heavy hitters such as the massive Handy-men, or the gatling-gun wielding Patriots. The Skylines also add something extra to the game play, allowing you to travel away from or towards battle, shoot at high speed or jump down on top of enemies. The equipment in the game also helps, giving you bonuses such as the ability to set enemies alight with melee, although not always useful they can be switched at anytime. Where the game really comes into its own however is Elizabeth's ability to tear holes in the world and introduce new elements to battle. Sometimes she will be able to bring a turret to the field, or new guns, or even allies to help the fight, and it is these that really make the change (game play wise) between Bioshock Infinite and other games. They just help to keep the game fresh and are a really interesting mechanic. Really though, it is the story that runs this game. Similarly to Bioshock 1, you will want to replay Infinite after you're done. I wish I could say more but it would ruin such a fantastic story.

See the beauty, avoid the beasts
5There's a world in the clouds above your heads and this is your opportunity to take it in. And as you'd expect from such a city, there are beautiful sights, a fully realised vista filled with conversations, people going about their day... until the beasts are unleashed. I can't say much without spoiling the plot, but the blue skies go grey and leave you questioning everything. What is good and what is bad? Morals and views get cast into serious doubt. The only downside with Bioshock Infinite is that the shooting can be a little erratic. But it's still perfectly serviceable with plenty of new powers, a variety of novel weapons and the opportunity to upgrade them all again. So breathe in the world of Columbia. You won't look back.

Fantastic!
5What a fantastic and visually stunning game Bioshock Infinite is.The beautiful but dank art deco environment of Rapture has been exchanged for the bright and sunny city of Columbia. But don't let that fool you, it's still as dangerous and you will still feel that same sensation of being isolated. Irrational games have really worked their magic here. Let me reassure you, this is not a mindless button basher, this game has personality, story and the visuals that we have come to know and love of Bioshock. I would rate this a strong 9 out of 10. Go and order it!

One word... AWESOME
5If you are undecided on whether to buy Bioshock Infinite then please direct your attention to the nearest dictionary and look up the definition of awesome, for that is what you will be getting from this purchase. This game has you hooked from the beginning, with nods to the original Bioshock in the opening sequence, and hidden pop culture references throughout. There are certain games that you simply cannot put down and keep telling yourself that "You will stop in a minute" when actually several more hours come to pass before you make good on that statement. Stop reading this review and buy Bioshock Infinite now! The story is interesting, the characters, story and environment are deep and the visuals beautiful, and the vision of an alternate 1912 is simply stunning and well realised. From the oppression of immigrants, to the revolutionary uprising the whole experience is not to be missed.

Bioshock Infinite
5Bioshock Infinite is a really good inclusion to the 3rd instalment of bioshock, lots of exploring and fighting new enemies. I also like the help you receive from Elisabeth, the girl you are trying to save or rescue.
