You are a witcher, a mutant. The sooner you accept this, the better. People will seek you out for your skills, but you must know to disappear when your presence is no longer desired. You are unique, different. This puts you in the same precarious position as non-humans who find themselves impaled or hanging from nearby trees. That they exist and are different triggers resentment, animosity and hatred among common folk, who will use any pretext to show them their proper place. How is it then that witchers, while equally non-human and different, do not share the fate of these poor devils? The answer is twofold.
First, relatively few of you walk this earth. Therefore, one is far more likely to encounter an elf than a monster-slayer such as yourself. And second, you possess a couple of rather forceful deterrents, a solid sword and a simple set of life rules.
Your blades are your lifeline. It's therefore unsurprising that your ability to wield them is renowned, or that very few are keen or even willing to risk their lives by engaging you in combat. Still, your prowess has not led to arrogance. Neither do you revert to force when it isn't necessary. As long as even a small possibility remains of resolving a conflict by other means, you sheathe your sword rather than tempt fate. However, you are unrelenting and without remorse when you must fight. You're no saint, and not out to save the world. Ultimately, you simply want to survive while remaining true to your profession.
The Witcher 2 version 2.0 enhancements and features are:
New Tutorial System - New, more comprehensive tutorial is designed as a separate part of the game and takes place in the Kingdom of Keadwen. New Tutorial System gradually explains all gameplay mechanics, from very basic to the most sophisticated systems. The Tutorial ensures that start of the game for everyone will be a pleasureable experience without too steep a learning curve.
Special "Dark" difficulty setting - A new, intensely challenging difficulty setting that provides the ultimate challenge for players. On the "Dark" setting, The Witcher 2 is nearly as difficult as "Insane," but allows players to save the game. It also provides a completely new set of dark-themed gear with very high stats. "Dark" mode also includes other special elements related to the "dark" theme. This setting is yet another reason to play the game again for those seeking new Witcher challenges.
- New items in the "Dark" setting:
- 3 new sets of dark armor (light, medium, and heavy)
- 6 new dark swords (3 silver, 3 steel)
- Other "Dark" themes/elements in the game...
Completely new, arcade-style Arena Mode. Infinitely replayable and progressively more challenging, Arena Mode lets you hone your combat style and techniques against all the different opponents from the game as well as a new monster type, the Werewolf. Dispatch wave upon wave of increasingly more difficult enemies, earning awards that you can use to upgrade abilities, weapons and armor, and to test alchemy. Hirelings can also assist you in battle for a price. Combat waves will continue until your character is defeated, when you'll see a statistical summary of results. The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings 2.0
I struggled to enjoy the first Witcher game but this one puts to rest all the niggles that annoyed me about the first one. You can upgrade the game to the Ultimate Edition for free and that just polishes things off even further. This is a story-lead game rather than the freeform nature of things like Skyrim, but it means your choices have consequences and even dictate huge differences in how you progress in the game. It's enjoyable and well written, and worth a try even to those who didn't like the first game.

Mature story-driven RPG for hardcore gamers
The Witcher 2 is a great game with incredible graphics, most of the technical issues have been ironed out and the gameplay is much more balanced then at the release (functional tutorial, better balanced difficulty). Specs are kinda high though but anyone who is playing skyrim or the likes should be able to run this on nice settings. Furthermore the game offers a really compelling story (not much knowledge of part 1 is required) with meaningful decisions which really shape the way the story and the game unfolds. In comparison to other games which have been released recently, this game might be a bit harder but not in a very unfair way. The game is slightly more difficult in the beginning though because you lack a lot of the great skillls. The setting is really nice as well, mature with politics, ethical issues such a racism and some sexuality. Great game, great price, 5 stars

Great packaging at an awesome price
First of all, for those wondering, this package contains the following: -Game discs patched to 2.0 (with OST, digital pamphlet, and digital papercraft patterns) -Bonus DVD with Dev diaries, as well as some promo pictures -Game Manual -Game Guide -Map of the world -All so-far released DLC So, as far as the packaging is considered and what you get for your money - this is one of the (if not the) best offers on the market. As far as the game itself is concerned it is really a gem. Despite almost no major reviewing sites agreeing with me on this one, it is my GOTY 2011. The story is engaging, characters are quite well developed, the gameplay is ferociously fluid and brutal and the only major flaw (which I'm hoping will be addressed in the "enhanced version" patch) is the cut-short act III. Everything leading up to it, though, is top-notch. Decisions may not have as big impacts as they did in the first one, but the areas of gray are still very much present and are quite masterfully done. To cut this short - if you like RPGs and quality writing in games - you shouldn't miss out on the Witcher 2, and even if you are having second thoughts, the packaging contents and the price itself give no room for those. Buy this game, it's a AAA product without the negative implications of such "standards" that some other games carry.

One of the best RPG games.
The Witcher 2 is a sequel but thankfully you don't need to know the story of the original to get it. I didn't play the original but that never become a problem. The story is long and enjoyable, with multiple paths and endings. It plays great with both Mouse-Keyboard or Gamepad and this particular edition (version 2.0) offers many enhancements in graphics and extra story bits.

The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings 2.0
An underrated game of 2011, The Witcher 2 improves upon its predecessor in almost every way. An updated combat system, richly detailed worlds and a character driven story where your every decision comes with consequences. Highly recommended for both casual and hardcore gamers.

Pretty but flawed.
I should start by saying I was never a fan of the first game and it was with some trepidation I tried this one. The game looks good on my system a fairly old pc dual core 6800, GTX 260 and 3gb ram. I was running it on xp. Despite concerns that it might not run well I was able to run it with fairly high settings very smoothly. The game never really grabbed me from the start I struggled to feel any empathy for the characters who all seem quite two dimensional. The female characters appear to be mostly there for titillation, often having quite clunky dialogue. That said it does open up as you progress, you actions have a genuine impact on the world around you, which was a very nice touch. All too often rpgs feel like your actions have little impact on the larger world around you. The combat was very challenging, the game is quite difficult at times something of a rarity and would have been fun but for the fact it also felt sluggish and awkward to me. I still rate this game at 3 stars because, it is well made and there is fun to be had. However I found myself unable to overcome its shortcomings and really enjoy it as much as I should.

The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings 2.0
In my opinion, this is the best RPG game of the last years. It has mature content, a deep plot with several endings, and constant support from the delevopers who periodically add new content (such as the new Dark items for hardest difficulty). The characters are well portrayed and Geralt is very charming. It's a game in which there are different ways to reach our goals. Absolutely recommended!

The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings 2.0
This is a really great game: it has a deep plot and well portrayed characters, it is kept updated with new contents (such as the new Dark items for hardest difficulty) and it grants many hours of entertainment, also granted by its replayability: there are so many endings that it won't be sufficient one life to see them all! A masterpiece in GDR games.

The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings 2.0
I think this game is one of the best RPG games in 2011. It has a depp plot, with different choices to make, each one leading to a different enading. In my opinion, CDprojekt has done a really good woork; this guys are also kepping it updated with a lot of new contents, such as the Dark set in hardest difficulty. As i said: a deep plot, a good sotry-telling, a charismatic protagnist, characters well portrayed, different endings, many ways to solve each problem... What else? A masterpiece!
