The Darkness II is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed 2007 release, The Darkness, and features an original story by acclaimed comic writer Paul Jenkins.
It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado, now Don of the Franchetti crime family, used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. He’s been unable to shake the memory of Jenny’s death since bottling up his supernatural power and now The Darkness wants out.
A sudden, unprovoked attack on Jackie’s life heralds the start of a full-scale mob war which has clearly been orchestrated by some outside force. The botched attempt opens the door for The Darkness to re-emerge, and sets Jackie on a journey to hell and worse as he unravels the mystery behind the attack and the motivations of The Darkness itself.
Features:
- Quad-Wielding Chaos: Slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with the Demon Arms while simultaneously firing weapons, adding a new dimension to the FPS category
- Kill The Lights: Vicious, flesh-eviscerating supernatural powers only manifest in the absence of light so use or create shadows for a strategic advantage
- Gripping Interactive Storytelling: Intense and personal story written exclusively for the game by acclaimed comic book author Paul Jenkins whose credits also include The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine and Hellblazer
- Distinctive Graphic-Noir Style: Graphic novel shading and colour combined with the dramatic lighting of film noir make it feel as if you’re playing a graphic novel
- Based on the comic book series created by Top Cow
- The Darkness

Great game
Great game at a great price, includes a steam code as well which is great if you don't have a disc drive but want to collect physical games! Definitely recommend.

Great value
The game itself is short but sweet. Also, Its a non military FPS and we need more of these instead of COD clones so show your support! LIMITED EDITION: I'm here to tell you that even at these prices you still get the physical poster from marc sylvester (you also get a digital copy in the games library on steam) and two downloadable comic book collections which you can download to your phone as well. What you don't get here is the nice 3D casing which I've seen on some stores. However, for the price its definitely a good deal, and you can't get this stuff from steam.

The Darkness II Limited Edition
I loved the first The Darkness game, so it was clear to me that I had to get the sequel, which is developed by Digital Extremes as opposed to Starbreeze Studios, who developed the first game. I would really recommend playing the first Darkness because it gives you a lot of background information and you're just much deeper in the story altogether. The graphics use a Cel-Shading look which looks amazing and very colourful, but not in a childish / too comic way. The game does still feel like a serious, dark FPS, the new graphics style fits perfectly. The gameplay is mostly shooting/dismembering guys with regular guns(pistols, smgs, assault rifles, shotguns, dual wielded pistols/smgs) and your darkness arms. With all the dismemberment there is a lot of feedback to your attacks which feels very satisfying. The enemy AI to me seemed good enough. There are some quieter / story moments that keep the pace at a good level. I have to admit however that at some point the simple, yet fun gameplay mechanics were about to start boring me, but that didn't matter because the game ended soon after that. SP campaign length is around 5-6h. While it did feel short on one hand, it felt exactly right on the other. I wouldn't have wanted the game to continue much longer because at the end it was all wrapped up perfectly and the ending was simply AWESOME in my opinion. In coop you have 4 different characters, each having a unique skill. You can also upgrade your skills in co-op. Also co-op is best played online with friends. To be honest it was kind of hard to find other (non-friends) people playing the game 2 weeks after launch, so by the time you read this / get the game there might not even be anyone left playing the game online. Then again the COOP part is only 1-2h anyways. So in the end if you're looking for a fun 5-8h game and/or loved the first game you should definitely consider getting this for this cheap price. Just don't expect more than those I'd say maximum 10 hours out of the game.

Darkness and pure gore!
Another FPS for pc, and another GREAT one, but quite short in my opinion. The combo of melee plus guns is a great idea, and the kills and how you evolve your character makes this game repeatable, but not much. In the co-op we can play with other darkness users and it's pretty funny. This game uses steamworks, so playing with some friends is easy! I would love to have a longer campaign but it can't be helped. This is a must have you should buy for sure.
