Usually relegated to the role of a trusty steed or farmyard animal, the Chocobos’ cuddly appearance has given them a loyal fan base, along with a collection of titles based solely around them. Chocobo’s Dungeon takes a more traditional role playing theme than other spin-offs, placing Chocobo and Sid into a hidden town where each of its inhabitants are slowly losing their memories with each strike of the local bell tower. When the young Raffaello arrives and builds a collection of dungeons containing the townsfolk’s memories, it’s up to Chocobo to travel through them and return their thoughts.
Many of the gameplay foundations of previous Final Fantasy titles rear their heads in Chocobo’s Dungeon, each with their own more approachable, friendly twist. Final Fantasy characters from throughout the series will help guide the player through each dungeon, and a job system allows players to choose from recognisable classes, including black mage, knight and scholar.
Final Fantasy Fables – Chocobo’s Dungeon’s sharp visuals and welcoming role playing elements make it one of the most approachable Final Fantasy titles of recent years.
