Professor Layton And The Spectre's Call is the brilliant prequel game in the innovative Professor Layton series. This franchise tells the tales of the renowned puzzle master Professor Layton and his young self-appointed apprentice Luke, as they tackle many mysterious that would daunt even the best of detectives.
Our story tells the beginning of Professor Layton and Luke's first meeting, and is the prequel to the first game in the series Professor Layton And The Curious Village by three years. The game is set in the mysterious town of Misthrally, where legend tells of a ghostly guardian that protects the town in times of need, which was summoned by a strange flute. The Professor decides to investigate the town of Misthrally when his old friend Clark Triton, Luke's father, writes him a letter detailing a malevolent spirit attacking the town at night to the tune of a flute. The Professor notices that within the letter, a secret message is hidden... and so our puzzle journey begins.
This game boasts over 170 brand new and riveting puzzles designed to challenge even the sharpest of minds, with the puzzles gradually increasing in difficulty as you progress throughout the game. These puzzles are designed to test your number skills, spatial awareness, and more, even throwing in tricky riddles to really get your brain cogs in motion. The Spectre's Call has also introduced three brand spanking new mini-games into the fray, which will have you performing fun yet challenging tasks including guiding a fish through an obstacle course. Each beautifully drawn and animated environment you find yourself in will need to be investigated thoroughly in order to find these puzzles, with movement initiated by tapping the “shoe” icon with your stylus. In fact, the whole game is controlled by you tapping the touch screen of the Nintendo DS with your stylus.
With each puzzle you discover, there will be three hints available to you to help you solve it, or at least point you in the right direction should you find it just a tad too difficult. If you want to solve the puzzle without any help, the game also provides a “memo” pad on the touch screen where you can keep your notes. When you solve the challenge, simply tap, tick, or write your answer to the puzzle using the stylus as your pen. You can also speak to all of the colourful characters you will meet along the way of this gripping storyline in order to make allies, and make sure you leave nothing un-investigated so you can find every clue you need to solve this challenging and diverse mystery. If you do complete the game from the inside out and have broadband internet connection, you can connect your Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and get instant access to bonus downloadable puzzles, meaning you'll never be short of a brainteaser or two. Very best of puzzling
Yet again the professor is keeping me up at night I just can't lay it down, I'm like an addict... "just one more puzzle and then I'll go to sleep"... This game just grabs you and won't let go till you finish it. I hope they never stop producing these puzzle games!

Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call
After playing Professor Layton and the Curious Village I had to get the other Layton games, and I'm glad I did, they're just as good as the first one! The language is quite simple English, so just basic English reading ability is required. The puzzles vary a lot in difficulty. Basic mathematics knowledge (easy addition, subtraction and sometimes easy division and multiplication) is needed for some of them. A general tip is don't make it more difficult than it is. Think easy. This game, and the other Layton games, are suitable for all ages, children and adults and I really recommend them to everyone!

Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call
Great game! Puzzles are much more interesting and the plot is brilliant! Also the customer service with Zavvi was ace! Ordered it and it was with me like 4 days later! Amazing - and it was at least £5-10 cheaper than big names like Amazon, HMV and even Play.com!

Professor Layton and the spectre's call
I have loved all the Professor Layton series, though I did think the last one wasn't quite as good. Professor Layton and the Spectres Call however is brilliant. If I were to have any complaint it would be that I get so engrossed that I completely lose track of time. Well worth buying.
