From the producers of Band of Brothers, The Pacific tracks the real-life journeys of three U.S. Marines - Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda) - across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theatre during World War II. The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day.

Fantastic
I've bought the Band of Brothers Tin Box and I also wanted to get this kind of edition of The Pacific, because it can be bought only in slim version. So I bought it from from Zavvi. The series is perfect, the box is beautiful, and it was very cheap. I am happy to know this edition in my collection.

The Pacific - Tin Box Edition
Having loved Band of Brothers I was apprehensive as to whether The Pacific would be a let down. I have not been disappointed. This is a must see for any Band of Brothers fans.

the Pacific
The Pacific portrays the full scale of the campaign in a similar style and story format as its excellent and ground breaking companion series "Band of Brothers". Would it have the same depth of realism balanced with entertainment? In my view the answer is a qualified yes and well worth the purchase, it's guaranteed to be replayed many times.

A Grittier Band of Brothers
For those who have watched Band of Brothers, you'll certainly like this. However, do not think you'll get another Band of Brothers box set but set in a different location. It doesn't have the 'glamour' or the big names but I felt it was grittier and gave a greater realistic account of the war. The guys suffered and this certainly documents that. It's thoroughly enjoyable and I'm looking forward to watching the final 3 episodes. so I won't drop a spoiler here! Enjoy!

The Pacific
The Pacific is more epic action from the team that brought my favourite series Band of Brothers. This series is good but Band of Brothers set the standard so high that it is hard to compete. My main criticism would be that it is not quite as easy to follow characters in this as the story moves around more frequently but still well worth a go.

The Pacific
I bought The Pacific DVD set on the basis of the Speilberg/Hanks' previous offering, 'The Band of Brothers'. I suspect that 'The Band of Brothers' was an act too hard to follow, because 'Pacific' was a sore disappointment. The dialogue was very difficult to follow, the battle scenes were, by comparison to 'The Band of Brothers', very poor and the use of CGI, in some instances very bad. I did not detect the hand of Speilberg much throughout the series, and I suspect his name was used mostly as a selling point. Overall, a poor performance of a subject just crying out to be told.
