if you're bored...
2Not the greatest of fims I have ever seen. It will appeal to those after adventure. Not much of a build up. Has the potential to be a good film...lacking in originality.

5Saw it today- pretty solid hack n slash, far superior in terms of quality than the films mentioned above (I still also have a major soft spot for Beastmaster) but not without its issues. Solomon is a HERO- we can tell as he walks in slow motion most of the time and doesn't do simple things like pick up swords when flicking it up with a foot can do. Purefoy really makes the character his own and I never doubted his credentials. Only problems for me were the thin plot, occasional cringey dialogue and a few moments of over-excited editing that ruined a few of the sword fights (combined with occasional over-moody lighting that was just plain dark). Still I'd much rather watch 100 Solomon Kanes over most of the tepid action/sci fi/fantasy coming out of Hollywood

One To Miss
1An interesting storyline wasted, over the top CGI, average acting, and drawn out to the point that I almost fell asleep. I really wish I hadn't bothered, and seen anything else instead.

The Good, The Bad, and The Very Ugly
1I've never been a huge fan of this film genre, but was willing to give it a go as it stars the lush James Purefoy. I wish now that I had stayed well clear of this as I'll never get the time I lost watching it back. The stoyline had potential to make this an enjoyable epic, but sadly everything else let it down completely. James Purefoy did the best he could with a weak script, but with cringe worthy CGI effects, and gaping wide plot holes this film gets a big thumbs down from me.

Bad guy turns good guy badly in land of medieval turmoil.
3It's another overdone tale of redemption, as a weapon wielding baddy decides to clean up his act by decamping to a monastery. I found myself cringing a few times as the stereotypes played out... Predictable one liners and gratuitous bloody swordplay aside, I really wanted to like this film. It was stylishly made and I am rooting for more West Country heroes on the big screen, but this film misses the mark. Good for switching off on a Saturday night though!

Wait for it on TV
2This looked promising on the suspiciously short TV trailers, however was very disappointing when I went to see it. Everything about it was luke warm and predictable. This film looks like it wanted to be a combination of lots of other film plots around, eg that supernatural one with Mr. Reeves, that Pirate one with Mr. Depp, etc, etc. and presented nothing new, not even a convincing hero that you could admire/might want to be(!). A couple of actors in it that have been good in other things, but I think they might not want to be reminded of it in years to come. Might be good for keeping fairly young kids quiet for a bit when the Xbox/PC is on the blink.
