Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas, Casino) directs this exceptional adaption of Dennis Lehane’s novel Shutter Island. Leonardo DiCaprio gives a riveting performance as U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels. Teddy has been paired up with newly assigned partner Detective Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) to investigate the disappearance of Rachel Solando, a murderess who has escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane on a remote island located in Boston Harbour.
Upon arriving the two detectives are forced to surrender their weapons and are then taken to meet the head psychiatrist Dr. John Cawley (Ben Kingsley) who explains how impossible it is for anyone to make it out of the island. The longer the two detectives are on the island the more uneasy Teddy begins to feel as they begin to uncover much more than expected and come to realise that Rachel may not even exist. But what is the real reason they have been assigned to this island? (Matt Fairfield).

Shutter Island
Very intriguing film. Leonardo DiCaprio was very convincing as a government agent sent to this island to find a female inmate who had supposedly disappeared. Lots of surprises along the way. Would certainly recommend viewing.

First rate suspenseful psychological thriller
Di Caprio is at the peak of his powers as Ted Daniels, a war-weary US Marshall, called upon to investigate the dissapearance of a patient from a high-security mental institution, situated on the eponymous Shutter Island in Boston Harbour. The inspired casting of Ben Kingsley and Max Von-Sydow adds a uniquely keen edge to the already razor-sharp script. Direction, location and set design add still more unease, tension and outright paranoia to the action. Don't expect to sleep well after watching it though.

Shutter Island
The end is definitely the most unexpected turn you can imagine, and of course another amazing performance from DiCaprio. I recommend to watch Blood Diamond as well.

Shutter Island
Cracking film, Leo DiCaprio is allways amazing in his films this one is no different, not forgetting other famous and familiar faces. The film its self is a bit predictable around halfway through but never the less you still want to watch it all the way till then end, without giving it away is a bit sad. Watched this more than once, i would recomend this in a collection.

Shutter Island
Absolutely mindblowing. There's a reason Dicaprio and Scorsese keep teaming up and it's because they make amazing films. I think this one might just be my favourite. The cinematography is stunning, the acting is incredible from an all star cast and this intelligent film does not disappoint. It will have you thinking about it for days after.
