Welcome to a world of barely-controlled bedlam which as often as not tips over into full-blown chaos. Lab Rats is a daft, cartoony studio sitcom, starring Chris Addison (In The Loop,The Thick of It).
Somewhere in St. Dunstan's University sits The Arnolfini Research Laboratory - a lab for hire, meant for flashy projects which will bring the college kudos and money. Unfortunately for the university, the Arnolfini is staffed by what are known in scientific circles as 'idiots'.
Nominal head of the lab is Professor John Mycroft – he won a Nobel Prize for something 20 years ago and has done nothing approaching a day’s work since. So most of the actual work is done by Dr Alex Beenyman – whatever goes on in the lab is his responsibility. Or rather, it’s his fault. He is joined by some misfit lab assistants, the strange and slightly unnerving Dean of the college and a secretary whose attitude is only just this side of the line you cross to get sacked.
With the world of science as its backdrop, Lab Rats is brimming with stupid jokes endearingly chaotic characters and fast-paced, farcical plots from unexpectedly creating giant, corridor-filling snails to cloning TV chef Anthony Worrall-Thompson.
The hilarious cast includes Selina Cadell (Bremner, Bird And Fortune), Geoff McGivern (Hyperdrive), Jo Enright (Phoenix Nights), Helen Moon (Shameless) and Dan Tetsell (Extras).
