Boyz N The Hood
Every now and again you will sit down and watch a film on tv that you have never heard of because there is nothing else to watch and then be been blown away. This has happened 3 times for me with Shawshank, American History X and Boys n the hood. Now this is an easy 3rd position for me but dont let that take away from just how good this film is and I even remember asking who else had seen it the next day. It's the story of a group of young guys growing up in a very poor community of LA. It portrays how they develop surrounded by gang culture and how some are drawn into it and others battle to avoid it. There are scenes of violene, but not all the way through the film as the movie is much more than just a shoot 'em up. Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding jnr are quality. A film to watch or watch again.
