What Is A Christmas Jumper?

Christmas jumpers (also known as Christmas sweaters) are a form of clothing usually worn during winter, the season that marks the commencement of the festive holiday. Though they are thought of as staples of this time of year, their popularity was not widespread until the ’80s, during which presenters and singers began wearing them when appearing on television specials.

Throughout most media in which they are present, Christmas jumpers are depicted as knitted items made by the elderly for members of their family, predominantly young boys and girls. However, they have since become more commercialised, and there are many places to buy them.

Geeky Christmas Jumpers

Traditionally, Christmas jumpers are intended to represent the spirit of the holiday season that they accompany, but there’s no denying that the end result is often bland and — dare we say — ugly.

To rectify this unfortunate side effect of one too many snowflakes, our novelty Christmas jumpers (available in all sizes, including plus size) incorporate aspects of well-known franchises that exist in the world of geek culture, drawing inspiration from video games, TV shows, and movies. Some prominent examples are Stranger Things, Star Wars, Marvel, DC Comics, Disney, Elf, Harry Potter, Rick & Morty, The Grinch, Back to the Future, and The Big Lebowski.

Now you can invite some of your favourite characters to join the holiday celebrations. Take Darth Vader, for example: this Dark Lord of the Sith is feared throughout the Star Wars galaxy, yet our team of talented designers have transformed him into a master of festive cheer for these Xmas sweaters. Indeed, a traditional Santa hat adorns his imposing helmet, and his red-coloured lightsaber has been replaced by a candy cane. Who says that villains can’t enjoy the 25th of December?

What to Wear with a Christmas Jumper

If you’re looking forward to rocking your annual geek Christmas jumper, you might be wondering what to wear alongside it. Like any bold fashion item, they don’t complement all parts of your wardrobe, and because of this, you need to be selective.

The first step is to assess the theme of your outfit. Do you own a funny Christmas jumper? A cool one? Maybe even a rude one? The more outlandish the design, the more freedom you have to be creative. That’s not to say that you must go all out. If you’re feeling conservative, it is perfectly acceptable to adhere to tried-and-tested colour combinations. For example, a black or red Christmas jumper complements a pair of blue denim jeans nicely.

Would you believe us if we said that dressing yourself is perhaps the easiest part of the festive season? Try choosing the best Christmas jumper for your significant other or, worse, your entire family. Yes, some brave holiday lovers opt to spread the festive cheer between them, and we have only two words to say in response: good luck.
