Off the back of his hugely successful career retrospective, 'House of Rufus', Canadian-American singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright returns with another trailblazing album, 'Out of the Game'.
Produced by international production tycoon Mark Ronson, Rufus reinvents his genre-spanning pop sound once again. The incorporation of melodious female vocals, delightful climactic phases, and distinctive sonorous tones create an idiosyncratic sound-scape unique to a Rufus release.
From the synth-laden pop sensibilities of 'Bitter Tears', and the casually indulgent rhythms of 'Rashida', to the album's country and soul-infused lead single 'Out of the Game', each track ebbs and flows with ease.
Rufus and Ronson's beautiful experiment makes for an essential purchase for fans of both artists, as well as lovers of great modern pop music. (John Minard)
