The History of Hasbro Games

Hasbro is a brand known for creating a variety of products, most notably toys and games. The business first dipped its toe into the world of board games with its 1991 acquisition of Parker Brothers, which is remembered as the creator of Monopoly. In 1998, Hasbro Games was officially formed, resulting from a merger between Milton Bradley and Parker Bros.

Today, games are a key pillar of the business, and there have been countless releases of Hasbro board games over the years. You will likely recognise some of the biggest names in the company’s portfolio: the aforementioned Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Cluedo, and Guess Who.

These are staples of any respectable game night, making their appearance on any occasion when guests (be they family or friends) are wanting for something mentally engaging. It’s safe to say that many a Christmas has been made — and dare we say unmade — by the presence of these games.

The Different Editions of Hasbro Board Games

To keep things fresh, Hasbro games have undergone multiple transformations throughout their existence, with the rules and themes changing with each iteration. Monopoly is a prime example of this in practice, having started with United States street names before expanding to different cities around the world. The basic premise has also evolved, and it’s not uncommon to encounter a version wherein you are actively encouraged to cheat.

If this weren’t enough, fans of pop culture — that is, movies, TV series, and video games — can tailor their Hasbro board games to their favourite franchises: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Dragon Ball Z, Jaws, James Bond, Batman, Stranger Things, and more.
