Blast from the past
Read that many years ago, translated to Greek. Never had the chance to read all of it since it was published in another magazine and unfortunately was not continued. Interesting story, nice art, no cheesy 80s dialogue. Read it in one go and I surely enjoyed it.

The original Suicide Squad
One of the forgotten gems from the early 1990s, with heroes that you know from the start will not survive. Brilliant Brent Anderson art and great Gillis story (probably the best thing Gillis has ever written.

Strikeforce: Morituri Volume 1
Strikeforce: Morituri was one of the best science fiction comic books in the 80's. It was published by Marvel and created by writer Peter B. Gillis (Dr. Strange, The Defenders, What If...?) and artist Brent Anderson (X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills, Astro City) and was later taken over by James Hudnall (Alpha Flight) and artist Mark Bagley (Ultimate Spider-Man, Thunderbolts). It follows the story of a group of super soldiers defending the Earth from an alien invasion. The title comes from the Latin phrase "Ave Imperator, morituri te salutant" which means "Hail Caesar, we who are about to die salute you." This is because the process to turn you into a super soldier shortened your lifespan to one year. This trade paperback contains the first 13 issues. It has great action sequences but also an engaging storyline that explores with the human aspect of war and sacrifice as the characters know that not only might they die in battle, but even if they succeed in repelling the alien invasion they only have a year to live. I truly love this series and regularly recommend it to people who enjoy science fiction comics. It's a thrilling and engaging read.
