THX 1138 is the second release in the Sci-fi Destination SteelBook range. Each release includes a replica A3-sized theatrical poster.
The visionary first film from George Lucas in a director's cut. A chilling exploration of the future is also a compelling examination of the present in George Lucas's THX 1138, starring Robert Duvall as a man whose mind and body are controlled by the government.
THX makes a harrowing attempt to escape from a world where thoughts are controlled, freedom is an impossibility and love is the ultimate crime. "The real excitement of THX 1138 is not really the message but the medium - the use of film not to tell a story so much as to convey an experience. Stunning... dazzling... chilling and terribly powerful" (Charles Champlin, Los Angeles Times).
- Commentary by George Lucas and Walter Murch
- Theatre of Noise Experience: Isolated Sound Effects Track
- Master Sessions: Docupod Gallery Showcasing Murch's Pioneering Work

Great release of visionary film
Looked and sounded absolutely fantastic… I was very impressed with what they accomplished so early in their careers. The studio executives were not. Great insightful documentary about Coppola and Co’s company.

No complaints. Steelbook looks great, actually came earlier than expected.

Excellent transfer and superior version
Certainly this is an excellent transfer of the film. I would love to see it in full 4K one day. This version of the film is also the superior, extended one. The steel book packaging and subtle retro cover art is quite nice. It would be nice to see as part of a collection. The folded poster inside is quite nice. It's from the original cinema release. Overall, this is an excellent thought-provoking and artful science fiction film from a George Lucas, long before he thought that midichlorians were a great idea.

A Slow Burn To A Pacey Conclusion
I'd not seen this movie before. The first part of the movie was a bit slow to have any sense of character building or excitement. The second half was a true adventure romp in the future world and it was worth watching for that. Good special features including George Lucas's own movie version shot whilst at university.

THX 1138 Steelbook
A gorgeous looking steelbook of George Lucas’ first feature film. This is a must have for any collector, for any fan of Lucas and any fan of dystopian films. Do yourself a favour and “Ride into the future” because the future is now.

Great Looking Steelbook
This new series Si-fi destenation Steelbooks do look good, not ordered as yet, with some great movies and new artwork, but why oh why do we get a "folded" A3 poster, why cant it be a post card size with the option of maybe ordering the poster at the A3 size so it come maybe in a tube. it could at least be framed then.
