This is England '86
This Is England '86 picks up with the lives of Shaun, Woody and Lol in 1986 - the year Chris de Burgh is at number one, Top Gun is filling cinemas, the World Cup is raging in Mexico and over 3.4 million Brits are unemployed.
As Shaun sits his last school exam, the realisation dawns that adulthood beckons. It's mid-80s England and he's going to have to find his own way in the world. Life has dealt a surprise hand to his friends too and no one is quite where they thought they would be... Woody, Lol, Smell, Gadget... they are back and looking for love, a laugh, a job and something that resembles a future.
This is England '88
Haunted by the devastating events which took place 18 months previously, soul mates Lol and Woody both find themselves in self-imposed exile from each other and the gang.
They say Christmas is a time for forgiving and for forgetting, a time of love and laughter and joy ever after, and with echoes of A Christmas Carol, Shane Meadows take us to places we never thought we'd go. When all hope seems lost, what peace is there to be found?
This is Christmas. This is England style.

Great British drama
This is such a great series. If you've seen the original 'This Is England' you'll love this.

cockney villains
Shane Meadows excells as usual with these 2 series of life in England with a select few characters: Woody, Lol, Smell and Gadget. It takes a look at the ups and downs facing them as they battle to find themselves and have a laugh, get a job and something resembling a future. Well worth a watch and a great price for both Blu Rays, well worth a 5 star rating.

best drama of the last few years
This is England '86 and This is England '88 Boxset is a great drama, although it's a bit dark and depressing at times. It's well acted, directed and set. I enjoyed this set more than I did the movie.
