The World At War
Great boxset at a great price. One of the best WW2 documentaries you can buy :)

Excellent quality but...
I have seen this in various formats a number of times. This restored edition is by far the best quality I have seen. The only problem I have is that they have made it widescreen rather than keeping it in the original 4:3 aspect ratio. It is obvious I'm afraid and you'll have to get used to chopped heads. I simply don't understand why they've done this. There's nothing wrong with the old format at all. I would preferred to have had the choice, but it doesn't take away from the quality of the programme. If you haven't seen it then buy it and learn.

Great Blu Ray Set!
I remember watching some of this at school and thinking it was good but not paying much attention. Now ten years on, I'm glad I bought it. It gives you so much information about WW2, some that after extensive reading, I didn't already know. I love how politicians of the time are interviewed, as are soldiers (German and Allied) and civilians that were affected. It has been brilliantly restored for this Blu Ray addition and I would highly recommend buying it.

Ace
Much better watching this in Hi Rez rather than in the old 405 lines back in the day.

Best documentary ever.
Arguably the greatest documentary ever just got a bit better. Obviously the remastering and Blu-Ray visuals can only go so far with such old archive footage so it's no technical advert for the medium. More than anything though this is the definitive version of what is both a fascinating piece of television history and an important historical document. Packed full of interviews with those who fought the war (and many of those who commanded the troops and were first hand witnesses of some of the momentous decisions in history). It is informative, exhaustive, enlightening and often emotionally devastating. If you have any interest in history and you have a Blu-Ray player then you should own this, simple as that.

The World At War
For my age group we used to watch this every Sunday in the 1970's. This is an eye opener to every one, fear and truth all in one. Well worth every pound, and so clear as to all history, and clarity of picture. Enjoy this, as no one would do it justice again
