5A great under rated movie in another fantastic package from Arrow.

Brilliant
5This movie is fantastic. Full of suspense, twists and turns, and the picture quality on this bluray is superb, an improvement over the previous releases. However I cannot say enough about, how great, the book, its design, and articles withhin, are absolutely brilliant, a compliment to this set.

Stunning
5Another stunning arrow release, well designed package. As much behind the scenes info as you could hope for. The film itself is underrated, coming out between Seven and Fight Club. Well worth another look

The Game’s afoot
5Filmed between the deliciously dark Se7en and the ironically talked about Fight Club, The Game feels like it could win Pointless as an oft forgotten masterpiece of David Fincher (that and the not quite as good but equally not as appreciated Panic Room). Perfectly cast as a Scrooge like character, Michael Douglas pulls you into the Game as much as the enigmatic plotting of the screenplay by John Bracato and Michael Ferris. Sean Penn adds to the tension and everyone else cast seems to be perfectly tailored for the role they play. You wouldn’t think such a film that had an average take at the box office and is only talked about when David Fincher’s name is mentioned in a film conversation at the pub would get carefully curated attention to detail special features as this but it is a pleasing surprise. The box itself feels like it should feature a board game of the film (thankfully not!) but it houses a 200 page (!) special book with excerpts from books on the film as well as a Blu Ray and dvd version of the film. Some special features are pretty standard and have featured on previous editions but need to be on the disc so it feels as comprehensive as possible. The newer features are what you should pay attention to and give a welcome insight into the film (just don’t watch them before watching the film at least once). Commentary is provided by everyone you’d want it from and worth a listen if that’s your thing (certainly is mine and got some useful insights). Would it have been nice to have it all on one disc? Yes but that’s just a small niggle. See this if you have seen a Fincher film but want to see more or if you love a great twist. You’re in for a ride!

The Game Is On
5I am a huge fan of David Fincher. Each film is for a celebration - I can't wait for "Mank". "The Game" might not be a masterpiece, like "Se7en" or "The Social Network", but still it's a film that I enjoy coming back to. By that film Fincher established himself as a visual master. Twisted, meticulously directed, beautifully shot by great late Harris Savides, with outstanding Michael Douglas is a thrilling film. And this incredible edition is a marvel. Housed in a hardbook with behind the scenes photos, crisp 2K restoration from the original negative - what's not to love..! If you love Fincher, I definitely recommend this film!

Amazing packaging
4Great film, excellent packaging. Be warned: this is taller than a standard Blu-ray so won't fit on all shelves - it's more like a hard case book. One to display perhaps.
