Superb film
4Classic Hammer film. Blu-ray transfer quite decent. Good quality picture and some interesting extras. Part of the Studiocanal Hammer horror series. Good buy if this is our cup of tea.

Satanic Hammer
5An excellent film, not one of the best Hammer titles but definetly one you can enjoy. This studioCANAL bluray shows a clean transfer, not as sharp as other titles but the image has great colors and a great improvement compared to the DVD versión. A must for any Hammer fan!!!!

Best Hammer ever.
5The best Hammer film ever made. The Blueray/DVD double pack was sold at a great price. Though I don't have a Blueray yet. The added documentaries were a bonus though the first is probably the most interesting. The Oliver Read narrated 20 minute or so documentary on Hammer has the worst sound mix I've ever heard.

Another Hammer Classic on Blu-Ray
4The Devil Rides Out - Double Play is one of Hammer's greatest films. The Blu-ray presentation is very good, with finer colours being noticeable in some scenes. To make it even better, some of the effects which were a bit dodgy in the original version have now being enhanced. My only quibble is that the soundtrack is PCM Stereo and has not been enhanced for 5:1 Dolby Surround which would have been nice. Nevertheless, the soundtrack is good, with clear dialogue and the music score is nicely balanced. It's a good buy for Hammer fans and also for those who just love watching the golden oldies just like I do.

The Devil rides again
4At long last the 1968 horror classic, The Devil Rides Out, directed by Terence Fisher is released on Blu-ray. This is easily one of the top 5 of Hammer movies. This remastered version has fixed many of the effect shots that due to lack of budget had gave the film a unfinished look. The picture has also been much improved. Christopher Lee and Charles Grey steal all the scenes they're in and easily out act the other players. This is a well written horror story, ignore the Whicker Man silliness and watch this far superior tale.

great restoration!
5The Devil Rides Out - Double Play shows great restoration! I can understand the worry of hammer fans that the added special effects alter the originality, but this is a superb transfer. Both sound and picture are great and the new effects are both subtle and brilliantly done!

Devil Rides Out Blu Ray
5This film is just brilliant. (You probably know that or you wouldn't be looking here.) I'm going to concentrate on the picture, sound and features. First of all, I've never seen the film look so clear. You can now see more detail in the picture. The sound is a great improvement as I found on the DVD that the dialogue was quite quiet but then the music would almost deafen you when it kicked in. Not sure if this was intentional to make you jump. The dialogue here seems louder and clearer and you no longer have to turn the volume down when the music does come on. I had heard about the new enhancements and was quite worried that they would spoil the film, but they don't. None of the new effects feel like modern effects so do not take you out of the film. I especially liked the tidy up of the shot of the observatory and also the smoke that surrounded the spirit in the observatory. The features are also great, including a short Dennis Wheatley documentary, restoration documentary and a look back at the film. I've loved all of the recent Hammer - Studio Canal releases (Have purchased Dracula Prince of Darkness, The Reptile, Plague of the Zombies and Rasputin the Mad Monk) but this one is definitely a favourite so far.

Great Movie and Blu Ray
5Excellent blu ray transfer of a classic Hammer film. Well worth buying even if you already own the dvd as the picture quality is a vast improvement.
