Classic animation looking amazing

5

I am a big fan of Miyazaki's work, and I love most movies Ghibli Studios have released in the past 40 years, and I finally started getting all the Blu-Ray releases, and this movie is simply great looking, a great movie, with flawless animation, very good picture quality. StudioCanal did a great job with all the Ghibli releases, and it is a must-have for all fans of animation.

Avatar avant la lettre

This movie is superb. From the japanese director who created spirited away, its about a girl fighting to keep the old traditions alive , she meets up with a boy poisoned and looking for a potion to heal himself. David Cameron must have found some inspiration here when he created Avator.. if you like animation, a must have

A true masterpiece

This is by far Miyazaki's greatest achievement and a must watch movie for everyone. The Blu Ray version brings the colours to life and shows off the detail in every scene.

Fantasy For All

I'd consider Princess Mononoke to be one of best films from the Miyazaki catalogue. Despite a fairly consistent environmental message, the film doesn't suffer from too much lecturing, and tempers every softer moment with a dramatic one. The great balance means that the arcs all flow quite smoothly towards the ending crescendo. The finale has an almost Spielbergian happy ending, but having experienced everything up to that point, one feels oblige to concede any complaints they may harbour. Thoughtful and atmospheric, it's a story told with great maturity while still remaining largely accessible to all ages. Definitely recommended.
