AWESOME!
I have been a big fan of the Preacher series for the past few years, and love everything Garth Ennis writes. When I first heard this was being turned into a TV series I was very skeptical, as I could not imagine how half of it would even be allowed on TV. Once I heard Seth Rogen was behind it, my scepticism dispersed as he is not someone who is shy of controversy and creating things differently. Also seeing that Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon were executive producers made me feel at ease. Whilst the story doesn't completely follow the comics, it seems it was more of a prequel the first season, I really enjoyed it. I read alot of people complaining it started slow, people who hadn't read the comics, but for me it was about setting the scene and character development. The casting I thought was pretty spot on with Joseph Gilgun stealing the limelight with Cassidy the vampire, he was brilliant! Ruth Negga was awesome as fiesty Tulip and Dominic Cooper as badass Jessie Custer! The ending for me was surperb and has left me dying for Seasons 2 already! I think in the mean time I may have to re-read everything! For anyone who has quite a dark sense of humour, I recommend anything by Garth Ennis, and I really hope that his series The Boys gets picked up for a TV series as well!
