As civilisation draws ever nearer to their idyllic forest home, a group of mischievous Japanese tanuki racoons try to scare humans away. But they soon discover that man is not their only rivals in the struggle for their age-old territory. Released in 1994 as the Japanese economy slumped, but looking back to the sixties construction boom in Tokyo's Tama Hills, Pom Poko questions the money-grabbing ethics of yuppie Japan, and mourns the loss of the countryside. Drawing on Japanese myths and legends, writer and director Isao Takahata presents a satirical view of woodland spirits using every available magical ruse to take on modern developers: including transformations, sabotage and trickery. Pomo Poko is a unique winow into Japanese folklore, a comedy of modern failings, and a elegiac tale of unlikely heroes fighting insurmountable odds.

Underrated Studio Ghibli Film
It's quite possibly the most underrated Studio Ghibli film out of the lot. Great story, very imaginative and hard hitting at the same time. Fun, interesting and beautifully animated. A great buy with a beautiful steel book for the price.

Studio Ghibli Fan!
Fantastic product in a high quality steelbook case. Packaged well and arrived in excellent condition. The artwork of the front is stunning and representative of the film. Super happy with this release and glad to add it to my collection.

Once again, another good Steelbook for the Ghibli collection. Great choice of art work for the front & Steelbook spine divides all of the collection up. Very recommended for any Ghibli or Steelbook collector

I love Zavvi Studio Ghibli steelbook. My latest purchase is Pom Poko which I bought for my daughters and they absolutely love the movie. Amazing blu ray quality and the steelbook look awesome. I can’t wait to get the rest.

Pom Poko
The steelbook for Pom Poko is excellent, artwork inside and out work to great effect. Having these Studio Ghibi movies on Bluray and in Steelbooks makes a great collection.
