Furious

From a cinematic world of ubiquitous CGI, where physical action has become a thing of the past, emerges a masterpiece of handcrafted carnage and destruction from the predictable line up of typical computer generated action flicks. From director George Miller is an inferno of explosive grandeur, raw beauty and madness. Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with Mad Max: Fury Road.
Following a nuclear holocaust, the world has become an impoverished wasteland and civilisation has fallen under the tyrannous rule of Immortan Joe and his army of War Boys. The film focuses on Max Rockatansky, a silent survivor, who unwantedly finds himself caught in the hostile chase between the War Boys and rebellious heroine Imperator Furiosa, as she fights to return to the idyllic place she remembers from her childhood. With the aid of Max, a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshipper and an array of blazing monster trucks, Furiosa tries to stay ahead of the ruthless marauders to forge a path for survival. Well, what a film this was. This gargantuan blockbuster embodies the unexplored corner of cinema, where deranged extravagance and awe – inspiring thrills are not substituted for a basic plot and logical story. Instead, Miller manages to balance storylines with the glorious stunts in the most effortless way. The epic, frenzied hunt will make even the most brutal Fast & Furious look like a tame game of Mario Kart and will leave you stunned and breathless.
In addition to the superb visuals and engrossing storyline, the Mad Max meets the mark in other areas too. The performances from the cast are fantastic. Tom Hardy’s solitary yet likeable demeanour is ideal for Max’s character and Charlize Theron’s brooding and determined depiction of Furiosa could not be more accurately portrayed. However, while the script may be somewhat limited, it makes up in the flawless continuity and the overall execution is stunning; the lush vibrancy of the environment to which the film is set is gorgeous.
So, if you are looking for an escape from reality and don’t mind having your mind blown, watch Fury Road. It will make you want to swap for your Ford Focus for a fire – breathing monster truck.

'Mad Max: Fury Road'

Outstanding entertainment. If only Warner Bros put the discussed black and white version on the Blu-Ray disk. Still a comprehensive package though. Essential purchase.
