In the Year of the City 2274, humans live in a vast, bubbled metropolis, where computerised servo-mechanisms provide all needs so everyone can pursue endless hedonism. Endless, that is, until Lastday, when anyone who's 30 must submit to Carousel, a soaring, spinning trip to eternity and supposed rebirth.
The screen's first use of laser holography highlights this post-apocalyptic winner of a Special Achievement Academy Award® for Visual Effects.* Michael York plays Logan 5, a Sandman authorised to terminate Runners fleeing Carousel. Logan is almost 30. Catch him if you can.

Run with Logan to pick this up
I have loved this film since watching it in the cinema on its release. The Blu-ray is a great improvement over the quality of the transfer that is screened on TV, and the Steelbook packaging is beautiful.

It Carrousel time
One of the truly great Sci Fi movies of all time, mixed with aspects of social commentary in its approach. This is a far removal from the worlds of Star Wars and 2001, showing a truly dystopian vision of what is to come. Michael Yorke goes from rule enforcer to the role of revolutionary as he learns what the perfect Utopian society means, conspiracies and killer robots a bound. I got this as it was not part of my collection and makes a very very welcome edition in its fantastic steelbook, that looks nice amongst the others from the collection. I see people moaning about 4k, please can you not appreciate great cinema for what it is, not everything is ever going to be nor should it be in 4K

Nice design, just lacking a full gloss finish
The design of this steelbook series has divided opinion, but I quite like them, to be honest. Also pleased to get this title in a steelbook version as it's one of my all-time favourite movies - a true classic.

Simply awesome!
This is a fine addition to the steelbook collection well made and comes with the original movie poster as a bonus! So what not to like! If your a fan of the film then this is for you!

Classic film in a smart steelbook
It was good to watch a classic film from my childhood in high definition, the packaging is smart and the inclusion of the original artwork reproduced on a poster is a plus

Steelbook
Glad I picked this up. Though not the original artwork, the Steelbook is a nice addition to my collection - in fact all of the 'Destination Series' Steelbooks appear well worth considering. This makes three of the set for me so far including 'THX1138' and 'Forbidden Planet'. The consistent artwork across the series makes them very worthwhile. All appear with glorious inside artwork and include a limited edition poster. Though one of my personal favourites - 'This Island Earth' does not appear in the group, others like '2001 A Space Odyssey' and 'A Clockwork Orange' more than make up for the loss. (Perhaps Zavvi may release 'This Island Earth' as a limited Steelbook in its own right... fingers crossed. I love the Classics)

Shame it's not in 4K
I bought this title as it's the first release (that I am aware of) in steelbook form. However, these days I would expect all steelbook releases to be in 4K as well, not just standard blu-ray. The artwork is part of a series which has split opinion. Personally, I quite like it, but I'm not sure that it really works for all of the titles in the series.
