A Place Beyond Your Dreams.
A Movie Beyond Your Imagination.
Following a notorious aborted attempt by Alejandro Jodorowsky in the 1970s, Frank Herbert's bestselling sci-fi epic Dune finally made it to the big screen as the third film by emerging surrealist wunderkind David Lynch, featuring an all-star cast that includes several of Lynch's regular collaborators.
The year is 10,191, and four planets are embroiled in a secret plot to wrest control of the Spice Melange, the most precious substance in the universe and found only on the planet Arrakis. A feud between two powerful dynasties, House Atreides and House Harkonnen, is manipulated from afar by ruling powers that conspire to keep their grip on the spice. As the two families clash on Arrakis, Duke Atreides' son Paul (Kyle MacLachlan, in his screen debut) finds himself at the center of an intergalactic war and an ancient prophecy that could change the galaxy forever.
Though its initial reception ensured that Lynch largely eschewed mainstream filmmaking for the rest of his career, Dune has since been rightly re-evaluated as one of the most startlingly original and visionary science fiction films of the 1980s. Its astonishing production design and visual effects can now be appreciated anew in this spellbinding 4K restoration, accompanied by hours of comprehensive bonus features.
Special Features:

The Spice of Life
Another of David Lynch's films upgraded to 4K. I hadn't seen it in a long time, and this transfer made it a whole new experience. Some of the special effects are dated but the story keeps you involved. It would have been nice to include the full unedited version, but so pleased to have this great set.

Terrific set
A great design, loaded with features and a really sturdy well-made set. Arrived in perfect condition as usual.

Low Quality Paper and Printing
This would be such a great Steelbook release - if not for the low quality paper and print used for all the "Deluxe" items. It's such a shame to have blurry postcards, booklets and poster, when the source images no-doubt are far higher resolution and quality. Outside of that, the transfer is good and can be found on the other UHD Dune releases, as it's the same disc. And the case is really nice, with the excellent theatrical poster and a nice hard stock for the case. The poster was a nice surprise having an alternate landscape version on the reverse side. If I'm to nitpick, it would have been nice having different art on the case as what is on the Steelbook (or vice versa) - it's redundant when they share the same art. And, even though it's nice to have the dual sided poster, I still am not a fan of posters in these deluxe Steelbooks - I doubt anyone is looking at them more than once, and certainly not hanging them up on their walls. Especially when a far higher quality theatrical print is easily obtained.

Almost perfect!
Sounds great. Box set itself is cool - although I think I prefer the yellow worm cover on the other arrow edition. Booklet and features are great. Would have been awesome to have the complete version too. Visually, the film doesn’t look that much different to the BluRay edition IMO.

Brilliant restoration but
The 4k transfer of the original theatrical cut looks wonderful, the steelbook and packaging are excellent as well and there are some interesting extras on the discs. I personally love the film, many think otherwise but it is an extraordinary production in so many ways. Unfortunately this is far from the definitive collectors edition, as it does not include the alternative TV version or the Spicediver fan edit (all known footage spliced together). I understand this was beyond Arrow’s control and they tried, but I have to review this package objectively and acknowledge the missing content. Also missing, and a big initial selling point for me, is the new feature length documentary on the making of Dune, which was initially part of this release but omitted due to time constraints and a refusal to delay the release. A HUGE disappointment for myself and many others. The booklet of writing on the film is a good read, as is the production design book (exclusive to this deluxe package) but the quality of both booklets is very poor, printed on low grade school notebook paper, making the photos look very dull indeed. Why on earth would they compromise such an expensive and premium release with sub-par materials? Well I think we all know the answer to that one. For an example of high quality and glossy booklets, look to the recent John Carpenter Studio Canal Ltd Editions (The Fog etc), they are slim but great quality. People seem to either love or hate this film, if you are in the former camp you may want this admittedly attractive package. I can’t hide my disappointment (rightly or wrongly) over what this release could have been, so for that reason, if you’ve never seen the film before, then just wait for the standard release for a quarter of the price.

Incredible 4K Treatment by Arrow with a Beautiful Zavvi SteelBook
Arrow does "Dune" justice with this incredible 4K transfer and limited edition absolutely loaded with extras. Zavvi provides yet another awesome exclusive steelbook. What more could one want? Highly recommended to "Dune" and Arrow Video fans.

A SUPER edition!
A SUPERB release from Arrow! Absolutely love this Deluxe edition of Dune. I was in two minds whether to purchase this, or not: 1) I was questioning the price tag, 2) i didn’t have a particularly good memory of the movie. Still, decided to go for it……..and very happy i did, too. Enjoyed the film alot more than when i first saw it decades ago, and the Deluxe packaging, with its steelbook and all the other physical extras, really make this, literally, a heavyweight release. I would say that, out of the 4 limited editions that Arrow has just put out of this, that this is the one to go for - yeah, it’s the most expensive out of them all, but it has both the 4k uhd disc AND the blu ray disc, steelbook with slipcover, and the Visions of Dune book which has concept art of set pieces, etc, which is exclusive to this Deluxe edition. SUPERB RELEASE!
