The numbers speak volumes: 100,000 costumes, 8,000 extras, 300 sets and a staggering budget in its day the largest in movie history. Ben-Hur's creators made it the best, the greatest Biblical-era epic ever.
Charlton Heston brings a muscular physical and moral presence to the role of Judah Ben-Hur, a Jewish nobleman in Palestine whose heroic odyssey includes enslavement by the Romans, a bold escape from an embattled slave gallery, vengeance against his tormentors with Jesus Christ. Heston's charismatic performance brought him the Best Actor Oscar; the winner as 1959's Best Picture with the legendary William Wyler earning his third Best Director trophy, the film won a total 11 Academy Awards - a tally unequaled until 1977's Titanic set sail.

Ben hur
The Best epic movie ever made! For collectors the steel box edition is a nice present and beautiful item to have it, no doubts!

Region A Compatable
I can confirm this works in a US Playstation 3. No problematic PAL video either. The transfer is beautiful. I don't think it is possible for this to look any better. Only complaint is that this has got to be one of the ugliest cases I have ever seen. I am a fan of steelbooks, but this one - YUCK! But the price was right.

Ben Hur
Ben-Hur is a classic film that's as fresh today as it was when it was made in 1960. I still recall as a ten year old when blockbusters like these were shown and you received a programme for the film when entering the cinema. I still have the booklet 50 years later. All the ingredients of a truly great cinematic experience can be found in this film.. revenge, love, excitement, battles and personal salvation. Such films cannot be truly reviewed by a paragraph or two; they need to be viewed, lived through, tasted, thought about and above all enjoyed. This is a true classic in a time when the word classic is too easily thrown about. It's a must see, enough said!
