This terse and tense heist thriller stars Bernard Hill (Boys from the Blackstuff, Lord of the Rings) as a computer programmer blackmailed by gangsters into hacking a bank security system, and a young Kieran O'Brien (9 Songs) as his son.
Directed by Richard Loncraine (The Missionary, Richard III) Bellman & True deftly balances dramatic realism with stark black comedy and nail-biting suspense. Produced by HandMade Films, the film is a fine companion piece to their successful thrillers The Long Good Friday and Mona Lisa.
Loncraine would later remake this film as Firewall (2006) with Harrison Ford.
