Edgier and racier than its predecessor, Battlestar Galactica 2004 is a complete re-imagining of the 1970s series – upping the ante on the action, adventure and drama that made the original so popular. The groundbreaking story of man versus machine remains, but this time, the Cylon robot is no longer a recognisable enemy… it can move among man.

Battlestar galactica
Totally gripping, don't be put off by the change in characters (ie Starbuck is now a woman) nor the fact that the cylons are also made in the likeness of man! "skin jobs" and "toasters" the characters develop and the plot throws many a twist it hard to stop watching it. I'm a diehard fan of the original - and was soo surprised at how good this series was to watch. Shame it ended! Such a good series I've decided to go Blue Ray and sell off the DVD's. The special effects deserve the 1080 high definition. This was also a good price when on special Sendit are great, fantasticv service as well

Great introduction to BSG
Although a bit slow at the moments, season 1 is great introduction to Battlestar Galactica. The Mini-series movie (included in Season 1) is simply astonishing and the rest of the episodes get the viewer nicely familiar with show's characters and the setting. And also, no humanoid aliens with human bodies and weird faces like in most other SF shows. Highly recommended.

The best Sci Fi series ever ......
Firstly the series ..... well, being a WHO and STAR TREK fan and a fan of Battlestar the original series I was blown away by the re-imaging of a classic and the shear depth of the stories, characters and themes. The simple question (and without giving away the end of the whole story) "...what is the difference between humanity and between the Cylons?.." who have evolved from being simplish robots to being human and often more so than use..." Amazingly dark, tear jerking and breathtaking storylines are also supported by incredible sets, effects and visuals. The space and ship shots are very Firefly in terms of zooms and pans as if being filmed by hand-held cams. What more can I say. In terms of the bluray - I do have the DVD releases and a number of stories do have a grainy look in part which I believe has been added. These are still on the blurays but sound and colour are better. Given that, the blurays are stunning and there are extended episodes as well as the mini series included in the boxset. I can only say that for the price that Zavvi are selling this series ...... you need to immerse yourself in BSG. If you're a Sci Fi fan you'll not be disappointed. So, if you have not seen this series ... lucky you .... you have a whole new experience to look forward to.
