It's time to start... loving this film!

Saw this in the cinema and couldn't wait to rewatch. Visually stunning with a fantastic score by Sparks. Great that this underrated band are now getting their dues and that they got to make this movie with Carax. The colour pallette is great. The performances from Cotillard and Driver in particular (he is given more to do, to be fair) are briliant, and singing voices superb (haven't seen Cotillard in La Vie En Rose, but it's clear she has the vocal chops for the Piaf role!). And what can I say about the puppet child? Fantastic. The final act is mind-blowing. I have had the soundtrack on regular rotation since seeing it, too. Just brilliant. Perhaps, as many seem to be saying, this is not for everybody, but if you like Sparks and a bit of general irreverance and weirdness, you might just love it (so much). Have a watch of Edgar Wright's "The Sparks Brothers" to put it into context as well! UK blu-ray extras are wanting. There is a short, virtually conducted interview with Sparks by Robbie Collins, and that's it. Always good to see the charming Sparks brothers, but would've been good if there was a bit more. Some free postcards with, too, which are great (although ultimately superfluous)
