Adapted from the book by Frank Miller, this is a modern retelling of the Battle Of Thermopylae of 480 BC, when the 100,000 strong invading Persian Army of King Xerxes was held back in a narrow mountain pass by 300 Spartans. King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) is given four days by Persia's King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) to lay down his arms and surrender. Rejecting the proposal, the battle ensues, and the Spartans are only defeated by the treachery of a local shepherd Ephialtes (Andrew Tiernan), who shows the Persians a secret route, enabling them to outflank their opponents.

Spartans! Prepare for glory!
This DVD set is a great addition to any hardcore DVD fans collection. The Spartan helmet at first appears on the smallish side, however it is a detailed model made from strong material and looks great when displayed. The DVD case itself has some great images and the overall design is pleasing to the eye. It contains the 3D version of the film! (there is no clear indication of this on the box) The only downside to this otherwise wonderful set, is due to the following: 1: The wrap around paper detailing the contents. As this is stuck down with a tacky substance, you will have difficulty taking this off without somehow creasing or tearing it. If you're a hardcore collector, then I would recommend this to not be opened and only used as a display piece. Otherwise, if you're not fussed, then this is a great piece at a reasonable price!

300 - Spartan Helmet
On the Zavvi website it states there is only one disc in this set, there are in fact 3. You get the first film 300, the second film 300 Rise of an Empire and on the 3rd disc Rise of an Empire in 3D and of course the model of a Spartan helmet which measures 14.5cm H x 11cm L x 6cm D approximately. The both films are excellent entertainment and the free and prompt delivery from Zavvi excellent as well.

Quality collectors edition
An amazing collectors edition. I have been waiting for a great uk collectors edition of 300 and this was well worth the rate. Sadly the box come damaged and zavvi would not send me a replacement. It was a great price but sadly let down once again by poor customer service from zavvi. As a collector I would advise all collectors purchase special editions from other sites. The product was 5 out of 5. Zavvi was 2 out of 5
