Definitive release of a legandary film
The disk itself is nothing new, and that is no problem at at. The movie looks stunning on blu-ray, and the audio is top notch. It noes not hurt that is comes packed with a wealth of extras, including the exelent documentary "Making of a myth" narriated by James Cameron. As for the Steelbook, it looks better in person than in the pictures. It is something you can dig up when you wanna impress your less educated film geek pals. A great purchase for the picky film collector who wanna own every great film in its definitive version.

Great steelbook!
My first steelbook from Kubrick attracted me from the first sight with its beatiful artwork. The movie's transfer is also great. One of the best steelbooks in my collection - especially with its visual.

A simply astounding piece of work.
What is there left to be said about this film? A simply indescribable masterpiece that thrills, chills and brings tears to the eyes of everyone who watches it. It is a lesson is filmmaking and certainly my favourite Kubrick film. From the incredible soundtrack that mixes classical music perfectly with the grand vistas and scope, to the exquisite pacing all the way to the legendary audacious jump cut between the bone and the space station, this is an absolutely stupendous experience that will sit with you forever, with themes and questions raised that you never settle on a final solution upon. Enough superlatives cannot be thrown at this film.

This is an excellent Blu-Ray through and through. The film itself is an experience and great conversion to BD quality just adds to this experience. An interesting choice for the steelbook cover, not usually seen. A must have.

Awe inspiring classic
I hadn't seen this movie since taping it from television 15-20 years ago, and remembered liking most of it apart from the last 15 minutes or so. When I saw the steelbook for pre-order I decided to buy it and re-evaluate it. So glad I did! Wonderful movie, with terrific picture quality and a good set of bonus features too. The steelbook art is very striking, and is of a quality that this classic movie deserves. I actually loved the last 15 minutes this time! There's a good story on one of the bonus features about what Stanley Kubrick wanted to do with the ending if he'd had more time & money. This movie has aged so well, and doesn't look 47 years old at all. Buy it!

Kubrick's Classic Nicely Repackaged
What can be said about 2001 that hasn't already. The film itself is a Classic of its or any genre. It appears ageless, even after 50 years and of course is expertly directed by the Master Stanley Kubrick. This Steelbook is a Lovely example of Bold and new Artwork. A Striking visual of Dave Bowman aboard the Discovery One. Great Film and Lovely Artwork too, Highly Recommended.
