At the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con event, it was announced that Charlie Cox would be reprising the role of Daredevil for a brand new season, with the character now firmly integrated in the central MCU timeline.
Cox previously reprised the role via a cameo in last year's Spider-Man: No Way Home and will shortly be seen in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, meeting the MCU's other superhero lawyer.
So, we know that we'll be reintroduced to the character again soon, but what does this mean for the new Daredevil series itself?
Here's our guide to everything we know so far.
Cast
Casting announcements are a long way off at the moment - recent reports have suggested a writers' room has only just started to be put together, as we are in the earliest stages of production.
However, we do know two actors who will appear: the aforementioned Charlie Cox in the title role and Vincent D'Onofrio, who will be reprising his part of Kingpin. That villain has also been reintroduced into the MCU, appearing in last year's Hawkeye series on Disney+.
His storyline there tied him to Echo, another character getting a spin-off series on Disney+ as part of Marvel's Phase Five. Could that season be the next time we see Kingpin on-screen and will it give us more clues as to what the story for Daredevil's return will be?
Plot
Now, this is where we go into full speculation mode. The series is named after a storyline from issues 227 to 231 of the comics, however, several plot aspects from this run have already been lifted for the Netflix series.
The plot arc sees Karen Page revealing Daredevil's identity to Kingpin for drug money, information the villain uses to destroy Matt Murdock's life, leaving him broke and homeless.
The arc ends with Daredevil teaming up with Captain America, while helping Karen recover from her addiction.
If the series follows the broad strokes of this story, that will likely mean that Deborah Ann Wolf will be joining Cox and D'Onofrio, reprising her role from the Netflix series.
Release Date
It's nearly two years away, but don't worry - we know for sure that Daredevil: Born Again will premiere in spring 2024.
The series is 18 episodes long too, which more than makes up for the lost time since the show was cancelled.
