The cast for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) upcoming superhero team-up movie (which already features the likes of Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, and David Harbour reprising their Marvel roles), has added a major new member.
The Walking Dead and Nope star Steven Yeun will be joining the ensemble in an undisclosed role, Deadline reports. However, whilst the character is yet to be announced, it has been noted as being a "significant" part - not just for this film, but for the future of the MCU as a whole.
This is just the latest major role for Yeun, who will next be seen in a leading part in Netflix's dark comedy series Beef (premiering in April) and in Bong Joon-ho's Parasite follow-up Mickey 17, alongside Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette. That'll arrive in UK cinemas in March 2024.
No plot for Thunderbolts has yet been revealed, but if it follows the comics, it'll essentially be Marvel's Suicide Squad: a ragtag group of villains and anti-heroes sent on missions arranged by the government.
So far the cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) has also recently been cast in an undisclosed role.
Thunderbolts will be released in UK cinemas on Friday, 26th July 2024.
